Pueblo Bonito Wedding

Recommended Posts

We booked our daughter's wedding at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach for Nov 2013.  We have been there several times, but when we were making the preliminary search for resorts, we had a hard time finding reviews!  So I will post here in hopes of helping if you are considering the PBSB.

The resort is fabulous.  1st class.  The beach where our daughter is having her wedding is private and beautiful.  The sky pool where she will have her reception is what sold our daughter and her fiancé on the resort!  The sunset from the sky pool is something you will never forget.  Gorgeous and breathtaking!  People from all over the resort make the trek ( the resort is huge and the sky pool is way up there....) to the sky pool at sunset to watch the sun go down.

When we were there visiting, we spoke with a former Sunset bride who gave raving reviews....HOWEVER, we were touring with the wedding planner at the time and the former bride may not have been able to speak candidly.

Unfortunately, I found that the Sunset has one of the most expensive wedding packages.  AND the e-mail communication with the wedding planners have been frustratingly slow and spotty.  If our daughter were not completely sold on the resort we would have given up on them long, long ago!....... We have had the best luck calling directly.  Our questions and concerns have been fast and efficiently answered when we call.  Unfortunately no toll free number.

We are going with the Fire package.  The wedding package expense grows quickly when you have over 26 guests.....$90 for each additional guest and $156 for children.  Even on the Fire package for NON all inclusive PBSB guest the cost is even higher.....over $250 pp.  Really adds up.  The wedding planner is good about quoting the price of "add-ons"  DJ, beach microphone, flowers etc, if you let her know what add-ons you are interested in.  We have not found any "hidden costs".

We gave a $3000 deposit and at this point I feel pretty comfortable and confident that things will go smoothly and efficiently for the wedding/reception.  The resort knows how to present things with class and elegance and I feel good about it.

thank you so much for posting this.  i am getting marryed there on 10.13.13 and we picked this resort mainly because of the Catholic Chapel..  With that said we have never been thre and are also having issues with the communication.  You mentioed the quotes for the add ons.  Did you actually get price lists?  I got the info on the vendors they prefer for you to use but I don't have prices of how much the add ons are.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
