Decor: Hurricanes or Cylinder Votives?

Hi everyone. I am actually down here in Cabo for my wedding 11/11 and meant to post this before I left, but ran out of time.

I had my coordinator buy about 17 candle hurricanes (she says they are about 12 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter). We bought large 6 inch candles at IKEA (in pink and orange). We plan on filling them slightly with sand and placing the candle in them. Very simple decor. We also made brown runners that I think are about 2 ft by 10 ft for rectangular tables.

I have never seen the hurricanes in person, but since we don't really want to travel back with them I wanted to see if someone here or on the Yahoo! board wanted to use them. For some reason, I just noticed I am no longer a member of the Yahoo board. I am looking into that, but in the meantime...

I planned on using 2 hurricanes on each table, but will send a pic out after the wedding to show what they look like - could be sparse. Perhaps one of you that is also using Maye Cortinas would want to use them? I can perhaps have her keep them for you. I can even leave the candles if they work for you. I think she is charging me $12 each for the hurricane votives. So, perhaps we could split the cost or even some nominal fee? My mom wanted to haul those runners back and make shoe travel bags, but I can convince her otherwise wink.gif

Again, I wanted to post on the yahoo board but can't...so pass this along if you want!

Kristin,

Gosh, I wish the Sheraton would store them for me (I'd gladly pay for at least half the cost), but my wedding is not until June 23rd at the Sheraton. (and I'm not using a coordinator)...hmm...The hurricanes are exactly what I have in mind. I've been trying to figure out how to either buy them here and get them to Cabo or buy them there.

I know you're probably really busy down there and it's a long shot, but if you want to ask Irma if she could store them until June and she agrees, I'll send you a check! :)

Good luck with your wedding! I hope it is just as you imagined it! Congratulations!!

By the way, please be sure to post pictures of everything and a review!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
