Hello ladies! Hope everyone is doing great!!! I'm getting married at Barcelo Maya Palace on April 27, 2013 and I can't wait!!! I have a few questions though, how can I take my dress on the plane?!? Will they let me put it in the closet? Thinking about it stresses me out :/ Also, I don't know what to do about party favors...what will I be able to take on the plane? I was thinking about beach bags filled with sunblock, chapstick, mini maracas, koozies..stuff like that. Will that be a pain and cause problems boarding the plane?

Hi and congrats! They say that you shouldnt have any problem getting the flight attendents to put your dress in the first class closet if you just ask right before or when you board (it may also lead to an upgrade or a comp drink if they know you're headed out to get married!). As for favors, you can only bring $300 each of stuff (outside of clothing and personal effects) into MX without getting taxed, so bring receipts, keep it under that, and try to buy anything you can there! (It's expensive to ship there too). I am enlisting a bridesmaid or two to check an extra bag for me (I'll pay the charges of course). Hope that helps!

Congratulations Laura and welcome to the forum!!

Contacting your airline for more information would not be a bad idea.  They can put your mind at ease and perhaps offer you some extra allowances!  Many of your gift-bag items can be purchased here, perhaps you can enlist a bridemaid to do a quick shopping run with you!  Sunscreen is quite a bit pricier down here so even though it's a bit heavy, that would be the item I would recommend bringing down if you want to save a little.

The Barcelo is a great resort!!  Here are some recent shots from there:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
