Hello fellow destination brides --

I am really wanting to get married in Costa Rica and have heard the Nicoya Peninsula is what I am looking for (I want more seclusion and not "resorty". Has anyone here had experience with Montezuma, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa ??? Just wanted some feedback from other ladies before we make any final decisions.

I have been to all 3 areas.  Santa Teresa and Mal Pais are part of the same long streach of beaches and more refers to a particular area.  They are fairly remote areas so unless you and your guests are fairly adventurous I would suggest you find another more accessible area of Costa Rica.  We were planning on getting married there but it was too remote for our guest to travel as we had some coming for the weekend from San Jose. It takes a few hours of driving, a ferry and you can fly but you still have to drive on some less than ideal roads.  Also if you are considering getting married in the rainy season the area is virtually inaccessible because of the roads.

 

That being said they are beautiful areas, I was just in Santa Teresa in January and it is absolutely beautiful.  A hippy surfer town would best describe the area.  The hotels, beach areas and sunsets are spectacular.  Actually I don't have a bad thing to say about it, it was great.  They have some lovely boutique hotels in the area that could hold your wedding.

i'm also thinking to have my destination wedding in santa teresa. my fiancé and i are planning our wedding for january 2014 and we have been to all three areas montezuma, mal pais, and santa teresa. here is a website to give you some more information and also maps as well. were looking to have an eco friendly type wedding since we don't care much for the big resorts either. the website shows all accommodations, restaurants and bars etc: http://www.nicoyapeninsula.com/teresa/north.php

 

the dry season months are between january-april and you would preferably need to travel to these areas in the dry season. since many of the tavel needs to be done by 4x4 the ferry also has a shuttle that can transport you guests as well. hope this helps

I've lived in Guanacaste for four years and I think you might also like Samara or Nosara. I prefer Samara because it has a good paved road all the way from Liberia Airport (about a 2 hour drive). Nosara is about 2 hours then another 45 minute drive down a dirt road. Both are small, quiet, surfer/hippy towns with beautiful beaches and good surfing, lower costs and low crime. Check out Tierra Magnifica boutique hotel in Nosara...really beautiful spot. I'm a Canadian wedding musician and I've played there before...very nice place.

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
