Hi. I am wondering something. We are from Canada and we are going to have our wedding in Mexico. I think we should have a reception at home for people who can't come. He thinks too bad for them if they can't. So........who's right? Hahaha. Seriously, I get what he's is saying. More cost and it's like we are having two weddings but is it rude not to have a reception at home? Thanks!

We also decided not to do it as the main reason that we were having a destination wedding was to save money. We did however do an engagment party and invited all of our friends and family so those who could not make it got a chance to celebrate with us.

I can just speak for my experience.  Brides that have a destination wedding, may be the 70% of them,  have a little reception for friends that couldn't make it.
may be nothing big, a dinner, little party, where they show the experience they lived back in Mexico. Usually this dinner is one to two months after the destination wedding.

good luck!!

I didn't have one after my wedding.  If a friend has gotten married here in Wisconsin, she doesn't throw a second smaller wedding for all of those who can't make it, so I didn't feel like I should either.

I had my wedding, I paid for an amazing reception.  If they couldn't make it, that's really sad, but they understood.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
