Having Trouble Printing Boarding Passes :( Any advice?

Recommended Posts

I finally finished making my boarding passes, bought the supplies and have everything ready to go but when I went to print them on my computer on the fancy shimmery paper, the cardstock gets stuck and jams. :(  I have my printer on the setting for cardstock but no luck. :( Anyone have advice?  Should I just bite the bullet and go to Kinkos?

What is the weight of the paper? I had major trouble with 110# cardstock, and tried everything, front loading inkjet, front loading laser, work copier, Kinkos, OfficeMax... even the industrial printers couldn't handle the heavy paper, but they could probably handle 60-80# paper.

Maybe take a PDF on a thumb drive and a couple sheets of cardstock over to them and see if they can make it work?

After all my drama, I got some advice from a bride on here to get a top/rear loading printer (HP Deskjet 3050A) and it was the only thing that worked for my super-heavy cardstock.

Good luck!!!

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with printing.  It could be the type of printer you are using or the paper is just too thick for your printer.  Are you manually feeding the paper in?  I found that using a laser printer worked best for me.  I made boarding pass STD on magnet sheets and it worked just fine.  I would think the thickness of a magnet sheet would be somewhat the same as the cardstock.  I would maybe try feeding in the paper one at a time.

I hope this helps!

Believe it or not I have the HP 3050 printer!  I printed it on regular card stock and it worked fine but the shiny kind I got doesn't catch in the printer and gets stuck.  I've tried doing it one at a time and tried helping the page through, but that actually made it worse. :(

I'm going to try taking some paper and the flash drive to an office supply store to see if that will work.

It's frustrating because I am soooo ready to get these done and out to my guests!!!

Seriously?! Well, crap, I swear by this printer.

I know how you feel. There is nothing more frustrating than technology problems you can't fix when you're on somewhat of a deadline!! Please let me know what works for you. I have some projects planned with shimmer cardstock and now I'm crossing my fingers.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
