New to the site (obviously) and trying to plan our wedding (on kind of short notice) for Punta Cana!

We have a tentative date for 6/29/12 at the Hard Rock (been in contact with the resort, haven't signed the contract yet), but I'm having reservations on going all in for this place.  We love the date and love Punta Cana, however choosing this location will be more costly for our guests, although cheaper for us.  I'm just not sure the resort is going to be what I have been picturing as the ideal in my head.  I would much rather stay at Majestic Colonial or Elegance and have the wedding at the Jellyfish.  Of course, this would not be the "free" wedding we could get at the Hard Rock, but really, have you seen pics of a wedding at the Jellyfish?  THAT is EXACTLY the kind of caribbean beach wedding I have dreamed of, and IMO, soooo worth the cost!  Plus, MC/ME would be about 1/2 the price for my guests.  HOWEVER, the other problem, the Jellyfish doesn't have the date available confused.gif.

 

My FI I think (due to family pressure) is ready to sign on for the Hard Rock, and it would give us the date we want, but possibly less family and friends able to afford it.  He has seen information and pics on the Jellyfish and thinks it's great too, so I could probably convince him to have it there, but then we compromise on a different date, which with the short notice ( >7 months), would probably be in the middle of the week...

 

What do we do?!?  Has anyone out there run into similar issues?  Any advice on what to do??

Welcome!  I think a lot of brides have been in your position and it is tough, but you have to decide what is more important to you guys - the place you want or the people you want there.  I'm not familiar with either resort but you will have a great wedding no matter which one you choose.  Hopefully some other members can help!

Thanks!  It's a somewhat blind choice, but from what I have been hearing and reading on here, I know it's going to be great! friday.gif

Congrats on your booking!  Going for what you want, you can't go wrong. Punta Cana is one of the locations we are considering for our wedding.  Enjoy!

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
