Any Half Moon Brides??

Recommended Posts

Thanks, the pictures are beautiful, but like I said, the travel agent shocked me with her response and I figured you ladies could give better feedback.  I have been communicating with Danielle as well.  I just need to make the numbers work and lock in a date.

I visited Round Hill on my scouting trip. It's a beautiful resort. But for me, picking my wedding venue was like picking colleges...there are a lot of good ones out there, but you just have to get "that feeling" about it while you're walking around the property to know it's "the one". I loved Half Moon. It's been around since the 50s, yes, but you wouldnt know it. It has a classic luxury feel to it, but I didn't get a "stuffy" vibe. We loved it and are so excited to get married there!

That Jewel resort that the wedding planner on this thread mentioned is another level....definitely not luxury....

and WineGirl, we are not doing all-inclusive because we are hosting dinner/evening events on Thurs/Fri leading up to my Saturday wedding. And all of our guests receive complimentary breakfast, which is something we worked out back in March - not sure if this still applies. So for us it doesnt make sense to do all-inclusive.

But I've read other reviews where people love the all-inclusive option because dinners are pricey and then you can eat and not worry about it. For example, they have killer lobster tail which is not cheap but if you're on the all-inclusive then....lobster every night haha.

Thank you, great information.  So far, I keep coming back to Half Moon.  I was actually pricing out the all-inclusive, but to your point, I will be having evening events while there.  You have given me something to think about.  I need to get the cost for the non inclusive and see the difference.  Are you working with a TA.   I think I am going to get one or a consultant, I want someone to send out my save the dates and be a point of contact for me once I have the packages and my date confirmed.  I am thinking about a Friday afternoon ceremony and maybe provide an excursion for everyone on Saturday to Ocho Rios, shopping and the Falls or something.

Hi ladies.  I saw something a few minutes ago that made me smile.  I was on Jetsetter.com and noticed on there destination section Half Moon is featured with a wedding package that includes 70 guests.  Jetsetter typically feature top places, so it was neat to see Half Moon making the list.  Check it out.  I don't remember how many days was left before the sale was over.  Oh yeah, it's free to join, similar to groupon.

Winegirl,

My wedding is 3/31/12.  I think my deal through my travel was much better.  My guests do not have to pay for their ground transportation and includes my welcome reception and farewell brunch.  One thing that you have to remember is that if you do not have 70 people you will be losing money.  The important thing is to make sure you have 70 people who not only want to come but who will come.  You also do not have much choice as it relates to the venue.  Also, you still have to pay for your DJ and you do not have an option for photography.  Pictures are very important since most of the videographers in Jamaica are not the best.  Check with your planner because she can work with you to customize a package!  Good Luck!

Hi Halfmoonbride2b,

I am soo not considering the package I saw on jetsetter.  I mentioned it because I was surprised to see Half Moon featured.  I am only expecting 30-40 people.  I am working with a travel agent to get final prices and a confirmed date hopefully within the next week.

I should probably make a wish list and then cut back on things based on cost.  I am getting nervous because I think I am missing elements that will help me make the most informed decision.  Right now I have a date in April and May to choose from.  I can't wait to seal this deal and start working on other parts of the planningfriday.gif.

It's been a little difficult to get good prices from them.  I get detailed information but not necessarily the information that I want.

I am looking at the Eat, Drink and ..... package.  I was only given prices for all inclusive rooms and have asked several times about villa prices all inclusive vs. non  and well as non inclusive room rates.  I am yet to receive the exact information, that's why I decided to work with a TA, since they have more time to get these questions answered.

Thank you so much for responses, they have all been helpful.

Hi girls, i am also going to a Half moon bride soon.  I think i am having my wedding in Nov now.  Thank you for sharing your experience, i love this forum.  I am now in the process of picking a package with Danielle, but i am not sure if I understand whats going on.  I was under the impression that the allure package was $17000 for 50ppls, but they have just changed the price and package.  Would anyone like to share with me how much they pay for the allure and what does it include.  I would love to cut some cost to this madness if possible.  Much thanks for any help.  Love you all, and congrats.

Hi Ladies,

Did anyone do a site visit of Half Moon yet? I want to go down later this year. I spoke to Danielle and she said there's a special package called, Paint your Special Day ( i think that's the name) . Apparently it's 375 pp. I may do that. Does anyone have pics of their site visit?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
