Thanks Mrs Scuba! I asked the TA I am working with to give me rates on that resort as well. I actually have an uncle who is getting married there next month so I was going to talk to his soon to be wife and see how her planning has been :)

Thanks acw271011! I have heard that about Jamaica which is why we settled on them. I am finally working with a TA and just waiting for her to send me back some rates on places (including Gran Bahia). After researching the wedding packages, I actually think that Gran Bahia's sounds most reasonable without breaking the bank. After I choose I am sure I will be asking you and everyone else questions regarding the wedding itself. I am trying to work on a budget as best as possible!

I'm getting married at Gran Bahia Jamaica too in November. Check out www.merrickcousley.com  He's local Jamaica and his pics are gorgeous and no - there's no restrictions on outside photographers. Congrats on the engagement. In terms of "no fuss" you can't go wrong with Jamaica. I think it's easier than RM. Good luck.

Thanks JayKay and thank you for the photographer suggestion. I checked out his site and he has some gorgeous shots! If you don't mind me asking, about what were the price ranges for the packages?

I'm glad to hear you are still considering the Gran Bahia!

If you go to this thread you can view some pictures from the many brides who were just married there:

As to the photographer I know his prices have slightly increased since we booked.  We payed $1050 and that includes all day coverage, a DVD with all the images (at least 300 to unlimited amount) and photo retouching.  We also are paying his travel fee which is $250, which he charges for anywhere outside of Kingston (where he is from).  Hope this helps!

My experience with Grand Bahia in Riviera Maya is that we MAY NOT enter the property to shoot.   Juan Jose is one of our photographers and a former employee of the Riviera Maya Bahia and confirmed that was their policy... so if photography is important issue, you may wanna double check. I've always heard that Jamaica is SUPER easy to work in, in fact we don't actually have to get a work permit to go there, I just choose not to...

good luck :)

In your first post it wasn't specified the Gran Bahia in the Riviera Maya.  Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Carrie,

I'm actually going to get married in Jamaica. I am still working with a TA to finalize where but Gran Bahia Principe is pretty much at the top of the list! As soon as I confirm, I am sure I will be all over here posting questions considering I read thousands of posts on here already pertaining to it :)

I'm not from Great Britain actually. My first name is Brittany and I lived there for a bit and it was just a nickname I received from my fiancee!

Are you from Great Britain then?? So am I!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
