I live in Bermuda, so if you have any questions.....

We are just beginning to think about a destination for our wedding next year, and Bermuda is top of the wish list at the moment.  I'd love to pick your brains, please.

We have visited before and loved the fact that Bermuda is so laid back but also very traditional - perfect for an old fashioned at heart English girl and Irish fiance for a wedding we think!  We also want to get married in a church, and it's been hard to find destinations where that is possible, so another good reason to pick Bermuda.

So first challenge is picking a pretty church.  We visited the Cathedral but that is too big, we loved St Peter's in St George as it's so unusual but want to stay in Warwick so that's a bit far away.  I can't find any pictures of the inside of St Mary's in Warwick and was wondering if you had ever been inside and what it is like?

I've spent the last 2 evenings trying to find out and failing miserably, so sorry to be asking such a specific question, but I've given up trying to find anything online from another source.  Many thanks.

Hi Mrs Robinson,

Congratulations! My Dad's side of the family are Irish (my Mum's English) and I have about 8 of them flying out to Jamaica for our wedding which is amazing.

I know St. Mary's from the outside but not from the inside...I could find out if they will let me go and ake some pics for you? I live in Paget which is next to Warwick. I agree St. George's is too far away and would be a hassle. Where are you staying/having the reception? I was a catering manager for 3 yrs here but am now getting ready to move back to the UK so I know a most vendors in the industry if you need any further info.

Let me know if you wat meto take pics (I don't mind) and I can pretend my friend from back home is considering getting married there in.... with about.....guests.

Hope you are having fun with the planning,

Some pictures would be great and amazingly kind of you!

We got engaged at the end of last year and then my Dad died, so we've not felt like doing any planning until now,  So I'm now buying all the wedding magazines and beginning to enjoy it!  I hope your planning is fun too.

We want a small, fairly informal do and are planning for just us and 4 or 5 other couples who are close friends.  Don't have any fixed ideas about venues etc yet, but current favourite is to spend the week before the wedding in Hamilton - we stayed at the Royal Palms last time and loved it - just for ease of access to everything, and then go to Watercolours for the night before the wedding and a 'honeymoon' week.  So dinner the night before could be at the restaurant at the Royal Palms (I hope it's still good!), but I'd like to have the reception at a restaurant with a nice terrace and view for drinks and dinner.  What do you think?

Thanks again.

Hi MR,

I am so so sorry for my delay!! I have been getting ready to leave Bemuda after having been here for 3 years and packing and trying to sort a visa for my Jamaican fi to come back to UK with me has been a nightmare.

I am actally leaving on Thursday and will not have time to visit the church as promised :(

Good news though! One of my closest friends here called Leslie actually got married in St. Mary's herself and as a Bemudian knows waaaaaaay more than I do about that church and other similar options / choices. Her email is [email protected] and she is very happy for you to email her with any questions and I am sure she will send you pics. Bermuda is very much a it's not what you know it' who you know kind of place and sadly I have experienced a lot of con type planners here (that I provided wedding catering for) and really felt bad for the brides who trusted them from overseas.

Please email Leslie (she knows everyone!) she will help I promise and I am not familiar with Royal Palms so cannot offer advice there.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, I cannot imagine how hard this must all be for you but it's wonderful that he got to know your future hubby and (just my belief) he will be with you every step of the way.

All the best and still message me any time -I will respond faster!

Fyi - bermuda is really struggling with tourism right now with the news headlining all the time about how over 85 hotels have closed in the last 3 decades and occupancy rates being at an all time low. Hence for me, I see no reason for you not to be able to find a great deal somewhere.

Hi Catererbride I am also planning to get married in Bermuda. I see your post about some of the planners or caterers ripping people off. I'm having a hard time deciding which wedding planner I want to go with. You would be of much help if you can recommend one. I was thinking between Mr. Allister of Bermuda Bridal Suite, Chris from Select Sites Group, or Lara from Bermuda Bride. I know my post is late but I hope you can reply

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
