St Thomas Villa Wedding Reception?

Hi,

We have been looking at a few places, and trying to cover everything. We are on a budget. We have contacted a few places (Havana Blue, Bolongo) and got prices. We also liked Bluemoon Cafe, but they aren't sure they will still be operating there come next June.  We are likely going to have about 24 guests. Havana Blue and Bolongo seem to be priced about the same, but you get more food at Bolongo. Havana Blue is a much nicer place.  So we can decide between those two for now.  Each also has a 20% tax/service charge.

Does anyone know if we could rent a smaller villa (maybe 2-4 bedrooms), and would allow us to have a party for 26 people there?  We could then cater in food and get our own drinks (Wines/Champagne seem to have a 2x markup at Havana and Bolongo).

Thanks

This is what we did for our wedding/reception in April 2010.  We rented a villa and stayed there for a week and they let us have our reception there.  The villa I rented (while I do NOT recommend it), I ended up negotiaoting with them to waive the $1000 fee they normally require for parties like that.  If you do decide to go this route I recommend using a wedding planner and I HIGHLY recommend using Passion Fruit Chefs.  The food was AMAZING.  Good luck!

Hope this is helpful to you.

Thanks but the dates are booked for our wedding.  We are actually going down to St Thomas this week for a few days to check out a few things.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
