Is anyone out there planning a wedding at La Amada in Playa Mujeres?

Congrats and welcome to the forum!!  I've been talking to a bunch of past and future La Amada brides and it really helps!!  I still haven't seen the place in person but am finally going down on Thursday!  Your first move should be to email Ileana, who is the La Amada wedding coordinator.  Be prepared that she does not respond right away.  It doesn't mean anything about her work from what i hear, they just move a little slower in Mexico!  I've been talking to Gabi from Planner 1 and will be meeting with her when i'm down there this weekend.  I think that's who the hotel normally uses so she's really familiar with the hotel.  Plus, if you contact her through this website, she offers an additional discount.  A word of warning...don't expect too much in terms of a good deal for a group rate.  We actually opted not to do a room block because they were only going to give us a $6 discount.  They figure that the prices are already really cheap and we shouldn't expect them to go down more.  So instead of entering into an unnecessary room block contract, we're just having everyone make their own reservations.  I have a friend that owns a travel agency and they have her contact info if they want to do the hotel reservations through her.  Her name is Lia Batkin, of In the Know Travel Experiences and her email is:  [email protected].  Just tell her that Rachel Marino referred you to see about booking a wedding at La Amada.  She's the one who originally recommended La Amada to me.  I would be thrilled to give you any information that i have, just send me your email address and we can chat!  Congrats again and happy planning!!

hi there! i am using wendy hicks, who is highly recommended on this forum. she's just great! i will agree, la amada does not give insane discounts off their listed web price (IMO, i think they are trying to build themselves up as a more premium hotel and do not need to heavily discount since they are getting such traction now. i wouldn't be surprised if rates increase)

that being said, my guests have a really great deal that includes transportation and the all-inclusive rate option. everyone is really happy. and, it's an absolute blessing to have someone as organized and on top of things as wendy and it's nice not to have to be involved in everyone's booking - we have enough to handle as brides! :) feel free to PM me if you want her information!

Hi all,

I am also planning a wedding at La Amada at the end of May and also live in NYC.  I would love to share ideas with you all. We have about 90 guests coming and everyone is on the all-inclusive plan.  Is anyone else doing that?  We were hoping to have our reception at the isla grill.  We are going into this blind and so would love to know about the food/cocktails/service at the hotel.... as the date approaches I feel more nervous about not having gone there to check it out myself.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

would love to know fernando's contact info.  Getting so excited about the wedding but feel like I am out of the loop with all of these great details.  Anything you might know about the resort would be so greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

hello Dear how are you we have shoot weddings there the area is great and the golf course the have there is just great but here is some more comments see what people said

La Amada is a perfectly maintained oasis in its surroundings - beautiful grounds, nice rooms and a peaceful beach with white sands! It''s geared towards relaxation with comfy lounging beds everywhere and open-air balconies where one can chill out. Doesn't have too many restaurant options so beyond a few days can get repititive. Meat and dessert dishes at Lupita's( formal dining) were awesome. They have a great SPA setup and Lupita's lounge is nice place to hangout in the evenings with live music and the occasional mojito tasting events. The resort worked out wonderful for us with our 7 month old baby - no worries about cleanliness, water, mosquitos etc with plenty of beach beds and towels anytime during the day. She loved playing in the sands and the pool (the main beach pool was warm even in winter) and rolling around in the big lounge beds. :) The All-Inclusive was very convenient and provided the needed flexibility with a baby as we could avail the room service as and when and also when ordering on the beach. We didn't see too many older kids - only 2 or 3 other toddlers and mostly just couples so didn't have the chaotic atmosphere of the bigger resorts. Adjacent resort has water activities like jetski and parasailing and one can do day tours too for snorkeling, Chichen Itza etc. An evening show or two during the week might be a nice addition for added entertainment. Overall, a great place to choose for a refreshing getaway in the cancun area.

Hey guys.

I have a quick question. I am torn between the hotel Le Reve and the hotel La Amada. My wedding is going to be in May of 2012. But i want to book a year early to make sure I have ample time to get everything done. I have gotten information for Le Reve. but I have not received much from La Amada. I know the prices might change between here and now, but I would like to have an idea of what I have to look foward to. If some one could send me any information you have that would be great. I'll take anything you have on the hotel. Really, even if it dosent seem important, ill take it.

My email is [email protected]

thanks guys. and happy planning.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
