Hi Folks,

 

My Fi and I are getting married at the Club Riu Negril on Feb 12, 2011.

We have booked a private dinner on the beach and want a sound system for music and speeches but the resort is telling us it costs $250 per hour.

The first dance is one of the most important parts for me, but paying $250 for the sound system is a bit much.

The rental fee is the same cost with or without the DJ, as the DJ has to be there to supervise the equipment.

I'd love any suggestions or alternatives, or even some thoughts on if the $250 per/hour is worth it.

At that price we might as well us the DJ, but how do we know he will play the music we like?

 

Any other info on the private beach dinner would be great too.

Hi Lance,.

My name is Monique and I had my wedding in Jamaica @ Sunset Beach Resort in June and we found a great DJ, he provides the equipment and he plays as well his name is Kevan Stewart he was referred by a friend of mine who had her wedding at Bellfield in Montego Bay. When I saw her wedding video and saw how much her guests enjoyed themselves I had to call him and the good thing is he's more affordable than the hotel's inhouse dj and his rate is $150 per hour. Check his website www.jaweddingdj.com, I sent a quote request there and he called me back I toold him what I was expecting, when I got to Jamaica we also had a meeting to go over my playlist and MAN! on my wedding day he delivered Dwight was so impressed he had to go over and shake his hand after the party, my friends are still talking about it. He also has a page on FB, and his number is 1876.842.1908. Can't hurt to give hm a call or go on the website and explain what you are looking for. Good Luck with your wedding too!

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
