Considering the Gran Caribe for April 2011. Any advice?

Hello out there!  This is my first forum post ever, and it looks like I couldn't have chosen a better site!  I've been looking around and can't believe ALL of the helpful information all of you amazing ladies have posted!

My fiance and I are considering the Gran Caribe because we're both Catholic and love the chapel.

Are there any other Catholic chapels out there?

Any feedback from anyone who recently got married at the Gran Caribe?  My main concerns are decorations, and reception location.  If you got marrried in the chapel, did you have your reception at the Gran Caribe as well, or did you have it somewhere else? If you had it at the Gran Caribe, what did you think of the food, decorations, entertainment etc.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hi MelDab,

I'm getting married at the Gran on April 9, 2011 at their chapel. I believe there are other Catholic chapels in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area but I didn't consider the others after seeing the chapel at the Gran. We're having our cocktail hour and reception at the Gran Caribe's Villas Terrace. I didn't want my guests to have to travel around since they're all staying at the hotel anyway. If you do decide on the Gran Caribe, just be aware that they have a $350 outside vendor fee and you'll be charged extra for linen, chair covers, etc. There's also a 3-hour time limit on the private receptions. If you have your reception in any of the outside locations, you have to be outta there by 10PM.

There are a lot of informative posts on this site about getting married at the Gran Caribe and other resorts so take a look around and hopefully they'll help you with your planning. Congratulations and happy planning!

Did you actually go for a site visit?  SO happy to hear that!  People have had concerns about the aisle not being long enough. Did you feel that?

Would LOVE to see your pictures and hear all about the experience. Who is your wedding coordinator? I have Maritza, and it's a bit tough to get answers back.  We're learning that it helps to follow up an email with a phone call.

Also, what package did you choose? We're debating between the luxury and ultimate luxury.

So excited for you!  Can't wait to hear details!

Mel

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
