Hi to All who are about to be married at Playa Pesquero & to those who already have been. There are so many threads to search through and I dont wish to double up on any - but so many have not been accesses for months or years, I thought I had better start a new one to try to get a dialogue going!

Any advice from previous brides really welcome

Any advice from brides about to go or who like me are getting married next year - I would love to hear from you.

We fly out April 1st and get married April 8th 2011. To date there are 30 of us booked (did not start out that huge!).

I have emailed Yaly, but as of yet no response. I have been told though that it is easier to hear from her on a weekend due to no wedddings.

The usual questions really - what time to get married, where to have reception, what options to book/chose, what I should do now and what can be done on arrival, number of brides per day? what if 2 brides both want same reception - i.e. beach BBQ???

Look forward to hearing from everyone!

Lisa

Hey Corobeus......I just got married at PP three months ago so whatever questions you have that I can answer feel free.....I was the same way before our wedding, not sure about how to approach things....Yaly is fantastic and takes care of every little detail....We had the beach BBQ and it was AMAZING!!!!!  it was the highlight of the day ( and the only meal I ate the whole week...lol)  it is very elegant and we had it at 630 or 7ish and the sun was just setting it was sooooo nice....we did a beach ceremony with the tents gazebo at 4pm which was a good time to get married becasue the hottest part of the day was done and the tented gazebo also provided some shade.....We loved every past of our wedding day and I'm sure you will too!!!!!  The resort is beautiful but super super big and I kept getting lost!!!!  pools are fantastic, nightly entertainment was super....the on;t thing that we found negative with Cuba was the food.....we have been all over the Carribean ( Jamaica, Dominician, Mexico, bahamas) and Cuba def falls lowest for the food quality.....that being said it makes up for it in it's beautiful beaches and friendly staff.....any other questions feel free to email me [email protected] got married May 3 and this is the first time I signed on here since we have been back....

Oh thank you spring bride! and thanks for the email address I will use that!

I also have requested the 4pm wedding - it seems the ideal time and also guests wont want to get back into their beach clothes - we can wedding party all night long (I hope).

We had heard the food was bland - but as you say guess we cant have everything!

Cant wait to see your pictures.

I will think of my list of questions - hope it doesnt take you too long to answer.

Thanks again

Lisa

Hi - a nervous bride to be - any advice please!

Yaly has just emailed me to say that the date we have been advised is our wedding date is full (April 8th 2011) and that as April is her busiest month she will have a look as to what availability they have between our flight dates!!!!!

Has anyone come across this before?

I have responded to her saying we have it in writing from Thomas Cook that this is confirmed - hopefully we are one of the ones on that date and she just has a reservation under TC rather than our names!

If not we will be well into our second week of our honeymoon before we are married and then our plans to go to Havana for a private honeymoon for a few days will have to be forgotten as we will only have 3 days left in resort before we fly home!!

Anyone else suffered this?smile27.gif

Hey Corobeus!

I also got married at Playa Pesquero on May 19/10. We LOVED, this resort.

Have you heard back form Yaly? She is amazing. She made our day magical! We also got married at 4pm. We were suppose to have a beach ceremony and the beach BBQ reception but as I was getting my hair done at 2pm is started raining. So we had to change locations. We ended up getting married in the Gazebo (which was perfect) and had to have our reception in the banquet room. I was so upset with the weather but when I walked in that room, it was breath taking!!! (the air conditioning was major plus for my group of 34 as well) I brought my own center pieces to add my own personal touch and we had the beach BBQ menu. The food was fantastic!! My whole group actually loved the food the entire stay. I gained 10 pounds in two weeks!!!

Feel free to ask any questions!

Happy Planning!!

HI JTAlberta, thank you for the reply - do you have any pictures uploaded anywhere?

Sorry to hear it rained, but isnt that suppose to be lucky anyway to rain on your wedding day. It doesnt sound like it spoilt anything for you, glad to hear you had a great time.

Yes I have heard back from Yaly - she did email to say there was no availability left on our date! I emailed back to say I had confirmation from our travel agents and may be it was booked under their name - she rechecked and found us - so we are to be married on April 8th 2011, but the 4pm has gone and we have been given the 2pm wedding! We were a little disappointed at the news, we had thought with 12months notice we would have gotten the time we wanted - but alas not to be. She said we can have reception etc and drinks after ceremony and beach BBQ at 6pm - so guess we just have more drinking time!!! Hope it isnt too hot for everyone.

The gazebo sounds nice anyway - did you decide before you went where you were going to get married or did Yaly show you around when you arrived? I do fancy a gazebo type wedding I think - but also like sound of beach - I might make up my mind on arrival. The banquet does sound nice so does the beach BBQ, at this moment in time I think we are opting for BBQ but as you say the weather can dictate cant it.

Did you have another bride(s) on the day you wed? Yaly has confirmed our date is full so guess we can expect 3 brides that day - I did ask if the beach BBQ was still available and she said there was enough room to have 2 beach BBQ's if necessary - so guess they will be at 2 different or 3 different locations on the beach if necessary.

To date there are 30 of us going.

How was the horse and cart ride - was it just before the wedding or before and after?

Any tips you have will be greatly welcome - thank you

Lisa

Well We got married at PP on 8th April 2011 and it could not have been more perfect!

We had originally asked for 4pm wedding but got 2pm and now am so glad we did

The flowers were late, so they told us we would be a few mins late - that turned out to be 3.15! Stress has not been invented in Cuba yet so they were in no rush, the notary had to go to another wedding so Yaly married us - but it was nice being married by someone you knew and trusted. Yaly is just great - have no fears your wedding will be wonderful. Michel the video camara man is also brilliant - big heads up to both of them

We had the rum legend package and beach BBQ - both were excellent - I cannot fault it - only thing I think they forgot was cigars - but we got them a few days later so no dramas.

Oh it was perfect what can I say, wonderful venue, wonderful setting, wonderful wedding, wonderful husband - shall I go on.........

PP itself is also a dream vacation - you cannot fault anything at the hotel. Trip advisor says bland food - we like our food and we cannot say that was bland - restaurants are great - book as you arrive to ensure you get them, and trips we did Havana overnight as mini honeymoon (perfect) brillian Mojitos and club Tropicana and also did as wedding party a private Dine with the Dolphins - that was out of this world to say the least.

Oh perfect - feels like a dream now - I was a princess for the day and the holiday - well worth it - good luck to those who are going - you will not regret it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
