The Resort!!

When I first started my search after I got engaged in January, FI & I decided to get married at sunset on the cliffs of Negril. We went to Negril on our first vacation together in 2005 and thought it would be nice.

Figuring we'd invite about 160 people, we were looking for a place large enough to hold everybody and also a place that allowed children, to accommodate our niece and nephews. The contact told me they allowed kids and it was large enough for our group, and didn't require anybody to stay on-property so we were set. We put down a 25% deposit to hold the place sight unseen.

I still had some anxiety about it, not being able to find much about it online (besides its own site), my mom suggested a site visit. The two of us booked a grand opening special to Grand Palladium Jamaica and planned to drive over to Negril to check things out... and boy was I happy we did!!

The place we previously booked was not as nice as it seemed in pictures, and the stone border surrounding the terrace that was supposedly safe for children was barely ankle-high, a misstep away from the rocky cliffs and crashing waves. Scary for those family members with little kids, and pretty disappointing to me...

But thankfully, a backup plan became clear since we were staying at Grand Palladium.

I checked out their wedding packages, and surprisingly, for the same amount of people, it's LESS EXPENSIVE than the original place! I called FI from Jamaica and he was down with the new plan.

While there, I met with the wedding coordinator, saw all the ceremony locations, and put down a deposit there before I left!

The resort just opened this summer so good rates are still available. As soon as I got back home, I started e-mailing and calling everybody to get them to put down deposits asap before the prices go up!

But I love the new resort and I'm soo happy we went!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
