Well it's been a while since I've had them, but I recall them looking decent for a couple weeks. It'll be six days from the time I get them done to my wedding too and I've been assured by several friends that have gels that they'll still look great. I can always let you know how it worked out when I get back if that helps.

That would be awesome of you could let me know. Six days until your wedding. Wow, you must be so excited. I hope your day is everything you dreamed it to be :)

I'm jealous of the girls who didn't have their gel nails ruined. Maybe it depends on how much chlorine is in the pool.

I got pink and white gels for my wedding. We arrived on a Monday night, wedding was on a Wednesday so I only went in the pool two times before the wedding and they looked great. However by the end of our ten day stay, my nails looked like crap. They faded to a yellow. Even DH noticed and said "Eww, what happened to your nails" and that just tells you how bad they were because he never notices stuff like that.

I had tried gels prior to the wedding (like 3 months beforehand because I had never had them before) and they were beautiful the whole time which is why I determined it was the pool (or maybe salt water from the beach?!?). Either way, I didn't have the luck pp had

I got my nails done two weeks to the day for my engagement pics. They lasted the week really well, includin swimming and still haven't changed in colour. Apparently there are two (+?) ways of getting gel nails. When I got it done, she said the powder gel nails are stronger, so she did those... I don't know if that makes a difference. They have pretty much the exact same look, but apparently powder are a lot stronger and don't crack as easily. We went swimming pretty much everyday and they still have their original colour. I've never had the other kind of gel nails done, so I'm not sure how it is in comparison.

Anyways, like I said, it's two weeks to the day, and mine definately need to be filled. There is a pretty decent gap where my nails have grown. You'll be good for those 6 days for sure though. :)

              Shelly,

I would suggest you have your nails done 6 + 1 day weeks before you leave.

That way, your naturel nail will be use to having the gel. At 1st, you should go and get the refill every 3 weeks (that is why I wrote 6 weeks) Have them done at least 3 times before you go ! They will look much better and more naturel looking. Also, you will by then be use to having them so they won't be any chances of you "chipping" one. Worst comes to worst, bring nail clue, sometimes you can save a nail by putting some on (usually on the sides) before you totally loose it (the nail ...of course!).

It must be more the salt water than the pool because I have gel nails + a pool and the nails are ok... But there are different types of gel ... so I could be wrong here!

Thanks ladies! I got them done yesterday. Oh I had forgotten how much I love gels. My MOH is bringing nail glue and I figure if one breaks I could just go to the salon in Mexico to fix it.

Well I'm off! Talk to you all when I get back!!!!
