Newbie to be wed in the DR!

Hello All,

I am new to this forum which seems like a wonderful to place get/give info to fellow brides to be.

I was trying to get married April 10, 2011... a pretty significant date being that it is the day we started dating backwards (11/10/04 - 04/10/11). But that doesn't seem too feasible being that I want a very big glamourous wedding which is going to cost $$$. So I am now looking at fall of next year for our date.

I want to be wed at either the Paradisus Palma Real, or a tiny beach town named Cabrera located on the North Coast of the DR. This tiny town has one of the worlds top ten beaches cool.gif.

Still trying to figure it all out. I am very new to this wedding stuff so will be needing much advice being that I haven't been to many weddings. Any help from you ladies would be much appreciated.

Nia

Congrats and welcome to the forum. If you're interested in the Paradisus Palma Real make sure you join us in the Dominican Republic section. I'm getting married there next month and this site has helped me keep my sanity while planning a wedding via email! Good luck and enjoy your planning!!

Thank you all for your wishes and replies. I'm sure I will love this place. The advantage I have is that my parents are both Dominican and i have been traveling to the DR every year since I was 3 months old. I've hit a speed bump in my planning since I want a religious ceremony at a church and really can't find any information online. I will have to run plenty of errands when I go down in October. Why is planning a wedding so stressful! smile41.gif

Hi Nia, it occured to me just now there was another bride or two also getting married in Cabrera. You may want to do a search and perhaps that can help with the church info. I know one of the ladies was Japonick she was marrying at Flor Villa Cabrera or something like that. I'm sure if you do a search all the past threads with regards to brides married there will show up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
