Newbie! Getting married in Riviera Maya! Need advice!

Hi Everyone,

My Name is Erika, and my fiance, Erick, and I are planning to get married in Riviera Maya in March or April of 2012. We are getting a super early start on our search because we want to give our family plenty of time to save as some of them are facing financial hardships. Erick and I are currently in the process of making our top three resort choices for our wedding because we want to book a flight in August of this year to stay in our #1 resort choice. We want to stay in our #1 resort choice this August so that we can personally experience what our guests would feel like when they come for our wedding. Although, we are a little worried that things might change too much from now until March/April 2012. We would also like to visit our #2 and #3 choices when we go in August to keep our options open. So far it looks like our top three choices are:

  • Excellence Riviera Cancun
  • El Dorado Royale
  • RIU Palace Riviera Maya

I loved the pictures I saw of the Excellence Rivera Cancun and would love to have my wedding there!! But I'm afraid it would be too expensive for our guests sad.gif So as of now, Erick and I have decided that RIU Palace Riviera Maya would probably be our best choice because it is the least expensive of the three above and it seems from reviews and pictures that it is a beautiful resort.

So therefore, I have a very important question: Can anyone please provide feedback on weddings at the RIU Palance Riviera Maya resort? I really need feedback from people who have personally been there for a wedding or have had a wedding there. I really appreciate in advance anyone who could provide feedback as, I'm sure you all know, this is going to be one of the most important days of my life! :)

Also, I plan on using destinationweddings.com as a wedding coordinator (to assist in booking flights/hotels for my guests)... can anyone provide feedback on them? Do they offer competitive quotes? Thank you once again in advance for anyone who can provide feed!!! I really appreciate it! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
