I'm finally a Mrs! how did your legal day go in court?

Okay, so today is me and FI's one year anniversary! So we thought we'd celebrate by continuing this day to be our future anniversary of marriage! We got our license on friday, spent the weekend in Longboat Key (where he proposed!) and came back today to get it done, officially! Yay! right?

Wellllll, we end up getting back to town (orlando) and come to find that the courthouse is CLOSED because of Yom Kippur! I totally get that a lot of places close on national holidays, but why this particular holiday? Am i out of the loop, or do THAT many people celebrate Yom Kippur!? What a surprise! That's was a bummer, so then I just get upset that we aren't able to get it done today, and that makes me SOO sad, not only because we wouldn't have the same day, but also, my sister and mother were going to be witnesses! Since it is just me and FI, this was at least a way for them to be involved!

Ahhhh! So my sister had already met us there, and was parked next to a guy who kindly let her know at the same time that the courthouse was closed. I call her to tell her not to worry about today, that we'll meet up for dinner, and said she had a friend who was a notary, she'll see what she can do! The guy overheard, and he and my mom started talking...turns out, HE was a notary, and lived down the street! He was SUCH an angel, and agreed to marry us wherever we wanted! he didn't even ask for a certain amount of money when they asked what he charges, he was just THAT generous and kind! It's very rare to find I think these days.

Anyway, we pick a lake nearby, and chose to meet there...so less than an hour, we get married afterall! It was wonderful, and I'm so happy that it came out the way it did! My sister and mom take care of him, for his time, and give him a card with what I think is a very nice compensation for 15 minutes of his time! He definitely deserved it, wow, he saved us completely!

How did you brides deal with your legal day, for those who are doing symbolic? I just dressed simple, cute white sundress, cute white heels, and fi wore a nice shirt and some jeans. Came out wonderful, and the weather was outstanding!

Let me know what you guys did for your court day! Anyone have similar issues?? What did you guys do?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
