ROR Reception Music

Recommended Posts

I'd like to have background music during our reception which will be held at the Mammee Bay Steakhouse. I'm not sure if there is a stereo system there that can play CD's, an ipod docking station or you need to bring whatever you want to play your music on. If there is a docking station can you use a regular mp3 player or it has to be an ipod. (Excuse my ignorance, I use my blackberry as my portable music player)

What did past brides do? Any upcoming brides already ask Chandlyn this question?

We don't own an ipod or docking station so we're trying to figure out if we need to bring one or a CD player to have music at the reception. We have no use for an ipod so would probably end up buying it and returning it after the wedding or seeing if we can borrow one from someone.

I've searched the past threads but didn't come up with a definitive answer for this question.

Several brides have brought their own IPOD docking stations down. We are doing this for our poolside reception. As far as I know, they do not have and IPOD dock for you to use. Definitely see if you could borrow someone's IPOD rather than waste your money and time buying and returning one.

Good point Maureen! I guess I'll have to email Chandlyn. Deep down I'm hoping that Scott-Pierre and I are the only ones who have weddings that day and since she's having a poolside reception I'll get upgraded to the Plantation.

My travel agent just spoke with Chandlyn today and she said they they do have an iPod docking station that brides can use. My concern is that another bride might request it and I travel without one thinking I can use the one at the resort. I am considering taking our own as a back-up. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have also read in prior posts that the music is very hard to hear at the ceremony and that you should upgrade to a microphone if you plan to play your music on an iPod. Any advise in this area is appreciated, also. We leave in 16 days--where did the time go?

Hi ladies,

Just wanted to add an update to this thread. I emailed Chandlyn to inquire about the IPOD connection for a poolside dinner/reception. Nekiesha responded to my email and said that I would have to rent the DJ equipment, which includes the speakers and a microphone, for $90/hour. The cost stinks, but it may be worth it to not have to lug my own set up down there. Just wanted to let you ladies know! :)

We will see each other then! My appts are for 11 am, but I am going to move them up when we arrive b/c my MOH is going to get her hair done as well. There are 3 of us getting our hair done: me, my MOH and my mom. I am undecided on letting them do my makeup... What are u having done? 22 days! 3 weeks from tomorrow we will be wives!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
