Hi,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I got married there last September. There was a thread started (which I added below) and it talks about all 3 RIU's in Cancun. They are all close together (well, Riu Cancun and Las Americas are next to each other, Caribe is a bit farther) and use the same coordinator, so the rules and information provided are good for all three hotels. Checkout the info and let me know if you have any additional questions on that thread!

Good luck with your planning!

Did you ever ask what would have happened if it rained on the day you got married ? I am planning to get married on the beach and it would be just my luck to go to mexico for a beach wedding and it rain ! Did it rain whils you were there ? Thanks again for getting back to me and for that really useful thread. THANKS

Thanks for the nice comments!

The WC mentioned 2 scenerios incase it rained. 1) If it wasn't raining too hard the ceremony could be done on the same patio/terrace where my cocktail hour was (you mentioned you saw my pics, so it's the place where DH and I were dancing). It's very pretty there, so that would be a nice option. 2) If the rain was strong, the wedding could be done inside the hotel lobby in front of a beautiful mirror they have. I wasn't so excited about that option but I guess it would work if it really did rain that hard.

Hi michellemon,

I'm planning to get married on the beach at RPLA as well. I'm praying for no rain! You can search this forum for photographers in Cancun, there are plenty of reviews and a lot of great photographers. My photographer is Cecilia Duma. Below is her website:

My advice is to have in mind how much you want to spend on photography because it can get expensive quick!

Thanks for your feedback and websites. Both photographers look great. We booked the royal package with thomson and get 12 photos with that i think and was just thinking of upgrading that with RPLA photographer. So not long for you now then, Bet you extatic !!!!! I will be with just a month to go ! What setting are you planning on having on the beach ? I seen some pics on trip advisor of a couple getting married on RPLA beach and they were stood infornt of a arch with all beauriful flowers on it . It looked amazing . Is there many of you going ? Do you know what time you getting married yet? Do you have the full day planned ? Sorry about all the questions but its nice to talk to people who are/have shareing the same experience!!! and know some info. Thanks again .

I am so excited! I'm still trying to get little details together. I've been debating on whether to hire a videographer or just buy a nice video camera. (Seems the price will be similar, so I'm thinking video camera). We are getting married at 5pm on the beach so I'm hoping for some sunset pictures. (Although the sun sets over the bay side I believe). Apparently, the arch is extra. I didn't know that in the beginning. I thought it was included but I do like it so I will probably pay to have it. (You pay for all that stuff when you have your meeting with the wedding coordinator). Right now I believe we have 23 people coming. So nothing very big. I did hear back that I got the place I wanted for the dinner which is at El Romero Steak House from 6:45-8:15pm. I'm hoping that we can do cocktails on the terrace after the wedding but I think that isn't decided until we get there.
I'm trying to not stress out about the details because I know they plan so many weddings that it will be fine. The only thing I'm not sure of is where we will do the first dance (if at all). I am hoping to do that on the terrace and play music from my iPOD.
I'll will be posting everything when I get back! Let me knowo if you have any questions! smile123.gif

Hello all,

I just returned from my wedding there. I will try to be as detailed as possible- but the one thing you MUST know- is not to worry! It is all done for you and there is no way you can mess it up! I got married Aug 4th- SUPER HOTTTT! The wedding coordinator left me a message at the desk with my check in paperwork- which is good because they upgraded me when they saw I was a bride! I met her and her assistant the next morning. They have a check list that they go over with you so they don't forget anything. I did not have any attendants and we didn't do our own vows but we did have a sand ceremony. When you have your meeting with her she guides you through EVERYTHING. Flowers- walk through- rain outs ect. So you don't have to worry. You just have to tell her what you need from her- I had flutes and cake stuff as well as my sand stuff- she will need you to tell her what you want. She did excellent. I have NOT one compliant about her. The wedding day I spent at the spa, and they did so good. I got a massage, pedi, hair, and makeup done and I was only there for 3 hours! I arranged it all in advance- which I think is the way to go. My wedding was up by the pool- they closed it off 2 hours before and rinsed it and dried it. The flowers were already up and now we just had to wait. They seated my guests and came to get me at my room. I walked down the aisle with my hunny and everything was perfect. The only thing about the wedding was the microphone. I could not hear the minister over the waves and such. We hired the RPLA photographers and they did excellent. That was the right choice. They took pictures during and after the wedding- they did some by the ocean. We got married at 6pm- the sun goes down in the summer at 730 so we got some great pics! We had our dinner at Tapas house and they treated us like kings! They broight all the flowers and my flutes and cake in there as well. The cake doesn't look yummy- but it is. My advice is to know what you want and what you DON'T want and communicate that to Pamela. I had no issues with her or anyone at the Hotel at all. It was the right choice for me.Pics can be found at

Nicole Hatton's Photos - Some wedding pics | Facebook

I paid 550 for the photographers (There were 2 photographers that came and took pics- they work in a team) and 72 printedpics in 2 photo albums- with the CD and copyright to all 72.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
