LeShay RM Review - Part 2 (El Dorado & The Hotel District)

Recommended Posts

Our 2nd day (Sunday), we met with photographer Elizabeth Medina (will review her under RM photographers) at the El Dorado Royale. The resort was much larger than I anticipated, but it was Beautiful. Since we met Elizabeth in the lobby, we were only able to see the grounds of the resort. If youâ€re planning a wedding with older guest – keep the size of this resort in mind. Your guest will have to do a lot of walking. And Iâ€m not sure if the El Dorado has an arrangement with the RM wildlife society, but there were a few exotic birds (see pics), and many many iguana. My FI & I went from ‘Wow, look at that big reptile thingy†to ‘Letâ€s get outta here, all these iguana are freakin†us out!†– and we left.

We had a free day on Sunday so we decided to drive in to the Hotel Zone, and also to take a look at Dreams Cancun. On the way there we ate at La Destileria, right in the middle of the Hotel Zone. The food was Excellent, and they have a private room, that weâ€re seriously considering hosting our rehearsal dinner.

The Hotel District seemed very easy for guests to travel up and down with lots of taxis and public transportation.

I have pictures of El Dorado and this day as well, please PM me your e-mail address if you'd like me to forward to you.

Stay Tuned to Part 3: Dreams Cancun

Wow, so you didn't like the El Dorado Royale? I LOVED it. I thought it's size was part of it's charm - it didn't feel busy at all, even though they were full when we were there. Also, they have carts you can have take you from one side to the other if need be. You can wait for the shuttle every 20 minutes, or you can call for one and they usually they arrive within 10 minutes.

Also, the I didn't find the iguanas threatening or disgusting... but there are a lot of them!

Seriously? Not a single one?! They're EVERYWHERE!! Mostly by the back of the lobby along that river thing. They like to chill in the grass over there.

Shea, I really don't think you could be disappointed there. I'm interested to hear more on this particular review... but I really enjoyed it there. I've said it a few times that if it were only adults going to my wedding, I'd have my wedding there in a heartbeat!

You know you learn so much about your FI on vacation, and I had no idea reptiles freaked him out! I did like El Dorado, and does seem like a beautiful place for a wedding - I was just thinking of my grand parents and all the walking they'd have to do. But I didn't know about the shuttle, I guess that makes up for it.

And yes the peacocks do pose for their pictures! :)

We are bringing our photographer.. but they happen to be friends on the guest list who are attending anyways! This way they will be there the entire time, and we will be able to do the TTD photos too. I guess it is ok if you bring your own as long as they stay at the resort....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
