New and trying to figure out where...

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies!!

SO, I've been going back and forth between Costa Rica & Dominican!! Everything I hear, is Cost Rica! So much to do there!

Ive been searching resorts, and not even know where to start!

I'm looking for something luxious (like four seasons, i LOVE, lol, but NOT the price!!)....I like the "non commeral" resort look, more luxury smaller hotel/resorts if that makes sense!

We want it to be 4-5 stars, it must have a nice bedroom suit & huge bath tub! On the beach, with an awesome view...

I get such mixed reviews though after reading reviews on travel advisor! Any Ideas?

Came across these so far...

Reserva Conchal

Costa Rica Luxury Hotel - Manuel Antonio Quepos Beach Hotel & Resort

Any suggestions??

Thanks :) -Michelle

Hello and welcome!

I am getting married in Manuel Antonio in Jan 2010, and decided to rent a big house for the wedding/reception and place to stay.

As far as luxury accommodations, you will not find super nice mega resorts in Costa Rica. It isn't anything like Cabo or the Mayan Riviera. Almost all the all the hotels are boutique hotels, and will be small, family run operations. Not that that's bad, it's just harder to know what you're getting.

Personally I am so glad we decided o Costa Rica! Most all our friends and family have never been, and the price is turning out to be cheaper than anywhere else! Also, it such a beautiful, amazing country that I am so glad to visit again!

You may want to look in to renting a house, there are so many in Costa Rica for half the price of a Cabo/Pedregal mansion. The houses seem nicer than the best hotels! Here's the site I rented my house from :

Manuel Antonio Costa Rica Vacation Rentals, Villas & Houses, Luxury Beach View Rental Homes & Lodging Accommodations - Rent a Holiday House, Villa, Home

Well good luck and happy planning! There aren't many of us Costa Rica brides!

I visited costa rica about 3 yrs ago and i have to say my favorite part was manuel antonio. The park and beach it self was very nice and the town was amazing. We stayed in a hotel where our room was in the rain forest. When you walked out onto the balcony you could see the monkies swinging from branch to branch. We traveled all over the country so we did not rent a hotel for more than 2 days. Most people i spoke to have rented houses vs a hotel. Most times you can hire a person to cook/clean for you.

OMG - the Reserva Conchal is adorable. I agree with what everyone else is saying about CR. The options are limited. If you're looking for hotels based on star ratings. I would recommend going to expedia or Caribbean Online (carribean online) for star ratings and photos. Paradisus, 4 Seasons, Mariott and Hilton all have very nice hotels in CR. The Mariott is adorable and new but huge.

We're renting condos at Pacifico-Costarica.com: COSTA RICA CONDOS - OCEANFRONT HOMES COSTA RICA - PLAYAS DEL COCO REAL ESTATE - TOWNHOMES COSTA RICA - GUANACASTE COSTA RICA CONDOS. After the wedding we'll stay at a few other places in Costa Rica before flying back home.

Happy planning.

I just got married in May at Rancho Pacifico, and although it's not right on the beach, it's AMAZING. It's up in the rainforest overlooking the ocean, and the sounds and the environment are incredible. It is extremely non-commercial, but very luxury without being ostentatious. The staff knew all our names (we came to know theirs very quickly) and it felt very comfortable and homey, while still supplying 5-star service and ammenities (they'd bake us cookies and appetizers all the time too!). It won't really work if you want a big wedding, but we only had 20 people and had the entire resort to ourselves (they agreed not to book the few extra rooms left over).

You can see a few of my wedding photos here

Btw, what time of year are you wanting to get married, and how many people? Number of people will definitely help determine your options!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
