My name is Megan and I am a little over a year away from the BIG day. I couldn't be happier! My fiancee and I have a little girl together and have waited almost four years to get married. So you can imagine just how excited I am to see my wedding day come! We are not 100% on the date AND the location although we have a pretty good idea on both accounts.

Tentatively, we would like to get married on May 8th, 2010 somewhere on the turquoise waters of Mexico. Originally we were trying to stay away from Cancun to get less of that tourist-feel, however we didn't want to stray too far from the airport either. At the moment I am looking into the Moon Palace Spa and Golf resort on the Mayan Riviera. The only problem is that I've read that the beach is not fantastic. EVERYTHING else I've read about the resort seems perfect. It's family friendly, has inclusive tours, highly rated service, lots of food and bar choices and even a disco! We have about 25 people coming to celebrate with us and it seems like a great set up for everyone...I'm a little disappointed about the beach though. Is it wrong to want everything? :)

I also took a look at the Grand Palladium and the Grand Riviera Princess (which I'm not sure whether they do weddings or not, ha!) But they are both quite a haul away from the airport and I'm not sure how we would get to the resort! I know that there are taxi and limo services but I haven't been far enough into the process to check out those prices. And I'm TERRIFIED of renting a car and driving through Mexico. Call me crazy, that's how I feel. :)

And so, friends, I am continuing my search, making myself crazy in the process. I'm trying to convince myself that the beach may not be as bad as I think it will be. It's still a beautiful beach, just not the perfect sea-weed-free gem I was expecting. (which I know we'll have access to at the other palace resorts) Please feel free to give ANY advice you can offer up. Even if it's to tell me to take a chill pill. Seriously. :)

Thanks to all!

Megan

First off, Congrats!!! and Welcome.

We have decided to get married at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. We have been down there a couple of times and just fell in love with the place. There is a whole forum dedicated to this resort with sooo much helpful information.

The beach isn't as bad as people make it.. there is some seaweed, but the staff does a great job of cleaning it all up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
