Cash/Travelers Checks/Plastic

What is everyone planning or what have you used when traveling. Of course we'll be on the resort, but for choosing excursions and things like that, what is the best and safest method of payment?

We had sooooo much trouble getting cash. You will need cash for tipping and excursions. There are no ATM's at the resort and we had to basically get a cash advance from the desk on the Rivera side. There was only one person that could do it and if she was not in we were SOL...lol We did try to get money off site and that was a huge pain too. Not all ATM's would work with our Visa. We ended up hiring a driver and he took us to an actual bank (we were shopping and tubing down a river). Make sure you take $5 and $10 for the tipping!!

Also the only other problem we had in Jamaica was communication. If you need to call home it is very expensive to get a calling call in the gift shop and international card that you buy in the US do not work. We have kids and figured out that it was cheeper to have them call us. There was a $12 difference in our phone bill so it was not bad at all. Next time (and yes there will be a next time...lol) we will have them call us. There is a main Sandals line and then all they have to do is ask for your room. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
