RIU Riviera Maya Newbie

Oh yeah, I've seen every thread relative to the Riu Palace or anywhere in the Riviera Maya. I'm totally addicted to this site!

We thought we were going to have between 80-100 people at first (we actually did a little survey of friends and relatives before we commited to a DW), but people are starting to get a little grumpy about the cost and having to take off work, kids out of school, etc. So, who knows what our final count will be. It would be funny if it did end up being 100 people, the whole resort would be taken up with our wedding guests.

We chose the gazebo after alot of debate. We originally wanted the beach (it just seemed silly to go all the way to Mexico and not get married on the beach), but ended up going with the gazebo because it seemed more private and less windy.

How's your planning coming? I've got everything done already - thanks to these boards!

All your planning done? I feel like I am just starting! Did you do save the dates? If so, did you do your own, or did you go through a company? My FI and I are just getting around to finding someone to take a picture for us to put on it!

I've started brain storming about OOT bags, dresses, etc., but haven't bought a single thing yet!

Did you get your wedding dress? Do you love it? Did you go beach casual, or classic?

Oh! One more question... are you going to have a photographer? I am thinking about bringing one from the outside- but someone who lives in Playa Del Carmen area.

Okay- tons of questoins, sorry!

Ok, you got me, we aren't totally done. We have everything mapped out though. There's not alot we can do until things get closer and we know how many people will be coming. We did send our save the dates out last week. We just made them on vistaprint. Here's some pics...

I have gone shopping for dresses a few times, and can't really find anything in the stores I love. I found one online that I love, and am paying for a local shop to get one in for a week so I can try it on. Here it is...

I have decided that I'm bringing a local photographer with us. She's hired me to do makeup at some of her recent shoots, and I love her work. She used to just do just families, maternity, and babies, but she's trying to branch out. She's never done a destination wedding, but I really trust her. She'll be doing my boudoir photos too. Here's her website...

Let me know if you would be interested in using her, since she'll be at the resort already.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
