Where is the best place to live downtown Chicago?? Any Chicago brides out there?

For those of you who don't know, FI and I have postponed our wedding.

We actually received the "We changed the date" announcement today. frown.gif I'm pretty much over it though....

We currently live in San Antonio and I commute to work (Chicago) every week.

Before I met FI, I was determined to move to downtown Chicago & experience living in my base. Meaning- starting my trips (I'm a flight attendant) in Chicago & ending in Chicago (where I would live) instead of having to commute back to San Antonio on the next flight I could find home.

After loong discussions with FI he agrees that it's his time to "commute". He works Mon-Thurs (as I do) & he would take a flight Thursday night to Chicago & spend the weekend with me. pinkie.gif He is the best!

The problem?

Where the heck should I be looking for apartments in Chicago?

I want to live downtown. I sold my car so I'll either take a taxi/train to work.

-I know the winter is bad so I'm kinda just ignoring that right now-

I've looked online ALL day but there are soooooo many different neighborhoods I don't know where to start!!!!

I'm just looking for a nice 1 bedroom apartment approx $2,000/month.

That's my max.

Can any BDW Chicago gals help me outhuh.gif

Thanks for your time!

I guess it depends on what kind of area do you want to be in? There are a lot of different neighborhoods within Chicago and if you want to be on the north side vs. south side, close to el tracks, etc. You should have no problem finding something under your price max though. Is there a particular area or two that you are most interested in?

I definitely would like to be near the EL Tracks for sure! I have a friend who lives at Sky 55 on S. Michigan Ave. Hope this is not a stupid question but what neighborhood is that? When I google for apartments I'm always getting:

River NorthWest Loop

StreetervilleLincoln Park

Gold CoastOld Town

Lakeshore East / New East SideSouth Loop / Printer's Row

I don't know the difference??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
