Rockhouse in Negril

Recommended Posts

I'm looking through all the info I complied about Jamaica, and thought this may be helpful for anyone interested in a wedding at the Rockhouse. Just be aware that they book up VERY fast! I emailed in March 07 about a wedding in April 08, and they're booked through June 08.

Dear Heidi,

Thank you for your request for information about our beautiful property. We are honored to be considered as the location for your upcoming wedding. Unfortunately we don't have an available date for a wedding in the month of April you are inquiring. Please advise if you may have any alternate dates in mind.

Our goal is to provide ease of planning, from the small exquisite wedding ceremony, to an elaborate weekend wedding with friends and family. Our exceptional, experienced staff will create a special and memorable event for you. With the assistance of our onsite wedding coordinator, you can rest assured that all of the details and planning will be handled in a smooth and effortless manner.

At Rockhouse there is no "wedding chapel"; instead the bride and groom choose their own very special location. The most popular wedding settings are on the cliff edge, oval stone deck at the end of the walkway in the pool area, or on the lower restaurant deck which is suspended over the water. For smaller weddings additional options include the bridge over Pristine Cove, the point surrounded by water, an array of stone decks and porches located around the property overlooking the water, or the balcony of your guest room.

Simple Tropical Elegance

The Rockhouse "Simple Tropical Elegance" package is the starting package for all weddings at the Rockhouse and includes; License and Legal Fees, Minister Charges, Choice of Location on the Rockhouse Grounds, Bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne, Wedding Cake (for up to 6 people),Witness (if required), Decorated Wedding Location including Walkway Petals, Bridal Bouquet and Boutonniere. The cost of this package is US$750.00 plus a 8.25% Government tax.

Specific arrangements in respect to catering, additional flowers, photography, video, music and entertainment, decoration, etc. can be made and will vary dependant on the size of the wedding party and your preferences.

Catering & Function

Most of our weddings take place cliff-side before sunset. The ceremony is usually followed by cocktails and hors douvres, and then dinner and the wedding cake. For small wedding parties (six persons or less) the guests dine in a private thatch roofed gazebo on the cliff edge surrounded by water at the point. For parties larger than sixteen the wedding function takes place in our newly designed function space overlooking the Caribbean Sea in the pool area. All party sizes may choose to dine in the Rockhouse Restaurant. Note that in order to close the Rockhouse Restaurant for the evening to accommodate a large wedding party we require that our food and beverage minimums be satisfied. These will vary depending on the time of the year the wedding is scheduled. Also for larger wedding parties, particularly where entertainment or a DJ is included in the wedding reception, we require that the hotel be mostly occupied by guests attending the wedding.

A selection of catering alternatives is available. For a limited menu tailored to your needs choose between our assortment of Elegant Dinner Menus (2 to 50 persons). A more casual and fun alternative is our Jamaican Family Style Dinner with appetizer and main course served by platter to each table (16 to 50 persons). For larger groups we offer the Rockhouse Caribbean Buffet (24 to 100 persons). Beverages are all charged at our regular Rockhouse prices based on what the group actually consumes. Please find attached a word document outlining in detail the various menus available for each catering alternative.

Music & Entertainment

There are many fine performers available in the Negril area to create the right vibes for the wedding. Reggae bands, Mento bands, Steel Drums, Soca Bands, Niabinghi Drummers, DJs, String Quartets etc. have all been part of successful weddings at the Rockhouse. In order to accommodate entertainment at the wedding, the reception must either be located at the pool function space, or that the restaurant by dedicated to the reception.

Celebrants

Reverend Gordon performs most weddings at the Rockhouse. In addition to the Reverend, or an equivalently qualified celebrant, the following churches have specific congregations in Negril and may be available to perform the wedding ceremony at the hotel or at their church: Anglican Episcopal, New Testament Church of God, Roman Catholic, Seventh Day Adventist and United Church. Religious services may have additional special requirements (and additional cost). Please inform us of your preference in respect to celebrant so that we may coordinate dates and times. In addition we require documentation including birth certificates etc to arrive in Jamaica at least 14 days prior to your arrival.

Wedding dates and times are set subject to availability. We limit the number of weddings at the Rockhouse each year to ensure we can provide a wonderful experience and the dedicated support required for this special occasion.

In order to begin tailoring our wedding proposal and draft contract to your specific requirements, after reviewing the attached food and beverage package, please provide us with information regarding your preferred wedding date (giving alternatives if possible), the approximate size of the group, your preferred location for the ceremony and function, your preference for the celebrant performing the marriage, your food & beverage preferences, entertainment preferences etc.

Please do not hesitate to call, fax or email us if you have any further questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
