Do you have to buy bridesmaid dresses together?

Recommended Posts

My daughter found her bridesmaids dresses at a local bridal shop. They are $200 there. The woman told her that all dresses had to be ordered from their shop so they can get the same dye lot. The dresses are black. There are two bridesmaids that live accross the country and one found the dress online for $138. Do you think that is true, that all the dresses need to be ordered together, or was the shop just trying to get all the business? I like the dress, but my feeling is that $200 is alot to ask of the bridesmaids, along with their travel expenses to Vegas and if there is a way to have some of the girls get the dress for less, they would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I think it would be smart to order all the dresses from the same place at the same time. Granted, the difference in the shade of color probably won't be terribly noticeably if you dont... If you order the dresses together in one order they will all be made from the same thing of fabric where if you order at different times or places, they wont be made together.

I think it depends on the designer. My daughter's bridesmaids ordered from the Alfred Angelo line. Four of the girls ordered from a store close to my house, and the fifth ordered her dress from her local store, about 3 hours away from here. They all matched perfectly. Do you know the designer?

My BM's all ordered their BariJay dresses online. They ended up getting them from the same website b/c I found great deals and free shipping, but they all ordered at different times.

I think you should just find an online store with the best prices and order that way - or check at other local shops for better prices.

If you can find the dresses online at a better price than the $200 you were quoted, print out the online price and ask her to match it. That way, you'll have piece of mind if she's gotten the "dye lot" conspiracy into your head ... and hopefully get some discounted pricing in the meantime.

i think your bridesmaids will be okay to order their own. if there is any difference it will be barely noticeable. if they're made to be bridesmaids dresses i'm assuming they're going for the same color every tim its made. a friend of mine got married recently, and she asked all of her bridesmaids to wear a certain black davids bridal dress. all the of the girls lived in different places and they all went to a different db, but they all look identical, and you'd never be able to tell!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
