Dreams new Photographer Policy???? I am fuming!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, I am so upset right now, so I will try to keep this coherent. I booked my wedding at Dreams Puerto Aventuras (opening in late fall/winter '0cool.gif and have had contact with the wedding coordinator since July. When I spoke with her about hiring my own photographer I was told no problem. Through this forum I heard about a policy at my resort stating that you can only use non-mexican (non-resident) photographers and they have to be guests of the resort. wtf.gif When did this happen? I was told it is some contract they have with the photographers unionhuh.gif?? Where is it in writing and why weren't we (brides of DPA or Dreams if it is a resort thing) told this? I cannot afford to bring a photog with me. Not only is it not in the wedding budget, it is not in my "life" budget...but thats a whole nother sob story. The point is, why aren't these resorts totally up front with us and why do we get bounced from WC to WC with each one telling us something different? It seems unfair to me.

This is all just a miscommunication between the WCs. If you were told that you could bring in a photographer (like I was) then they will let you. I know what I was told and have 2 emails in which Natalia says I can bring in my photographer, one of which I state her name. I really don't think there is anything to worry about. I emailed Natalia about it just to let her know that brides are being told two different things. If you noticed, its the brides that have spoken to Natalia that said its okay for outside photographers to come in and the brides that spoke with Jacy were told only foreigner photographers can come in.

Once Natalia gets back to me I will let all the DPA brides know what she says, but until Natalia and Jacy get things straighten out, don't get upset over this. There are other things we need to be working on! (I'm working on my invites!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
