Thank you! I am so excited! Now I have to figure out if I want to use the on-site photographer or bring in an outside one. They said the price to bring one in is 200 bucks sad.gif

What are you guys doing or who did you use for a photographer?

We're bringing in Sascha Gluck because we really loved his work. I've heard that the resort photographers are great, though. There are some photos included in our package, so I'm excited to see them both.

Everything has an extra charge at the Valentin, if you haven't found out already. The photos are really important to us, so we decided to bite the bullet and shell out to bring one.

We used Sascha for our wedding, and we were not disappointed at all! One of the best decisions that we made about our wedding. Highly, highly, highly recommend using him.

We didn't pay the fee for using the outside photographer. Negotiate everything with them. We flat out told Lupita that we thought it was ridiculous to have to pay that kind of money to use the photographer that we wanted and we weren't going to pay it. They ended up dropping the fee for us.

Blue Lense Caribe is the in-house photographer for VIM. They are also very good, but again, not as good as Sascha. We did our TTD w/ them b/c our wedding package came w/ photos. Love our TTD pics, and we had so much fun doing them, but I kinda wish that we would have spent the money to have the TTD pics done with Sascha. The whole idea of pics being included in your wedding package is a bit of joke really. It only includes like 20 some odd 4x6 photos, and you have to pay extra for the copyrights, more pics, and everything else. In the end, we would have only spent a little bit more money to have TTD done w/ Sascha vs paying for the photos we wanted from Blue Lense.

Also, Blue Lense is trying to get a contract with VIM to be the only photographers allowed on the resort. They're trying to get this into play asap. So, if you're looking into having an outside photographer do your wedding and TTD you need to communicate that with your wc and have it in writing.

Hey all,

Will be booking out date very shortly.. I found out I'm switching schools next year but good news.. we have 5 days off for weddings in the union agreement! I will probably still choose end of June 2011 anyways... might only miss 1-2 days of school at the end of the year.

Congrats ahollo02! I did a site visit at the Valentin in March and my parents stayed there 3 years ago and loved it.

hoyt: what do you mean when you say everything is extra at VIM? Any examples besides the photographer?

And last question.. if I bring my photographer from home and count her as a guest.. will they charge me?? That's crazy for outside vendors.. not only do I find outside photographers in Mexico rushed in doing touch ups and stuff, but now to pay extra for them to set their feet on hotel grounds.. crazy!!

I think I will be flying my own photographer down.. she's charging us 1575$ for the photo package (pics all day, touch ups and high res CD) plus travel. If I get 20 people booked, I get one trip for free.. so I'm praying!

Ok girls! I just wrote to Ariadna and asked her to waive the outside photographer fee. So keeps your fingers crossed she will! I was doing some searching in this fourm and found that Blue Lens Craibe got banned from this site because they were making fake profiles and promoting themselves. That makes me really nervous.

I think I am going to go with Celcila Dumas. If things do not work out with her then Sasha it is!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
