Feeling very confused...

In the two weeks that we have been dealing with our TA now, I am not feeling very confident in, well... anything.

We placed a $125 deposit each for our rooms and our TA was supposed to be contacting Sandals to arrange group booking information. Should we have gotten travel insurance then? How does that work? He at no point offered it to us or discussed any pricing even though we mentioned it.

We met with him on June 2nd and put our deposit down and he took my debit mastercard and was supposed to process our reservation that day. So a week later I contact the Sandals wedding hotline that I located on the website thinking that this would have been plenty of time for the booking to process. I select a date and time and receive a call from Darma the next day. Needless to say I spent 5 days trying to get things ironed out with our TA because he waited a week and a half to process our deposit and reservation through Apple Vacations with Sandals.

Yada yada yada, went through a bunch of crap and now we have confirmation numbers for everything... finally. Our wedding date is March 23, 2009 at 3pm at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios and we have a direct flight from Pittsburgh to Montego Bay. But to me, this was not a good start.

Now this evening I was reading everyone's posts about travel insurance and was wondering if this was something that we should have done at the time of the deposit.

Help!

You really do need it - have a look online there are bound to be good deals to be had. I've had to get it because FI is in the army and if he is deployed i'm in trouble and it cost me £26!!! I think its only an english company tho - really doa search there are plenty at reasonable prices

yes travel insurance is a must, we wound up changing our plans and thank god my parents had purchased travel insurance because they were able to adjust their plans.

We have a sandals specialist TA she might be able to give you some Sandals specific advice, TA Jennifer.

It is through Apple, I don't know how long they have been doing Sandals, but our TA works with them with almost all their Caribbean travelers. I'll have to get in touch with him and inquire about travel insurance.

I def recommend you getting the travel insurance, because you never know what will happen.

I got mine off here:

Travel Insurance: Travel Guard - Trip, Medical/Health & Accident Coverage
Thanks so much! We're going to review this one together this evening. I really appreciate it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
