Using a TA a good idea or not?

Recommended Posts

Do I need a travel agent?

Here's my situation:

Wedding is 1 year away (Memorial Day Weekend 2009) at the Hilton Cancun Resort

Plan on booking a room block through my hotel, I believe the rates will be about $170 per night for single occupancy

Guests (roughly 40, but we'll see how many actually book...) will be coming from all over the US (Texas, Kansas, Michigan, Washington, etc)

I'm just trying to think of ways to save myself and my guests $$, with rising gas prices and everything. Any suggestions - I'm not sure if it would be worth it for me to us a TA or not, and I'm not even sure how a TA can really help!? huh02.gif

Often times TA's can negotiate a better group rate/room block with your resort. In addition, we have access to different airfares and booking engines that you don't have access to - and can often get very competitive airfares.

In addition, we are your stress reliever! Instead of you having to deal with questions from your guests, tracking your guest's bookings, general travel questions, etc. in addition to all of your wedding plans, you can direct your guests to contact your TA with any questions, etc. they may have.

There are several TA's on here - I am the Canadian TA - but I would recommend contacting Tammy(host) and she'll be able to help point you in the right direction!

TA's usually can negotiate cheaper room blocks.

TA's can get your guests air/hotel packages which can make the airfare less $$$

TA's are your advocate (good TA's)

Do you really want 40 people calling you bothering YOU about all the details?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
