Riu Palace Las Americas Wedding

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Leslie and I will be getting married at Riu Palace Las Americas in Canun in September. I was hoping that if any one has had their wedding there if they can share a few pictures. I want to get an idea of what the ceremony and reception will look like.

I went on a site visit there about a month ago. I loved the place but the reception isn't private. Don't know if you knew that.. it was the reason why I didn't book it there. You'd have to have your reception in one of their restaurants and eat along with the other hotel guests. If you want something private afterwards, you'd have to rent the club next door at the Riu Cancun. Kind of a hassle. Gorgeous place nonetheless. Have you talked to Carolina? She was very helpful and nice so you'll enjoy speaking with her. Have you done a site visit? If you have any other questions let me know. I'll try to help.

Here's some pics I took--

One of the restaurants for the reception:

The gazebo by the pool you can have your ceremony in:

A hallway outside, I believe you can set up for cocktail hour in this section:

The beach ceremony will be here, a lil further up ahead. I was very disappointed bc part of the beach is gone, and I had to walk over sand bags to see the location. The water was actually coming up to my feet so imagine walking like that on your wedding day with your nice white dress on:

Thanks for the info!! I actually went on vacation there last year and fell in love with the resort. I knew about the reception not being private. At the time I didn't mind because we were only planning on having about 25 guests, so I didn't think we would need our own reception place. But, now our guest count has doubled so I'm not too sure what we are going to do for the reception. I know we will have to pay more to have a private dinner and we don't mind. I would love to have the reception at the terrace's steak house. I haven't spoke with anyone at the hotel because I was told I would be contacted by the wedding planners two months prior to the wedding. I would love to have an idea though on what the reception plans are because I'm a little nervous!

Thanks for the pics and the ideas about the gazebo and cocktail hour!

By the way, do you have a photographer yet?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
