Hi, I am looking for a baker in the Playa del Carmen area. I am getting married there in July and the resort only offeres 1 kind of basic cake, I am interested in having a more elaborate cake and a grooms cake. Does anyone know of any bakers in the area that I could contact?

I"m not sure if this will help you or not, but you might want to google these places and see if they can help you in any way. I know a supermarket sounds crazy but from what I hear Mexico's idea of a supermarket is different from ours, you never know they could have exactly what your looking for.

Chedraui Supermarket - Grocery Store in Playa del Carmen

This is biggest and best supermarket south of Cancun. They have a large selection of import and national food items, fresh veggies, a bakery, household items, clothing, etc. Essentially US style shopping. ------ When coming south from the airport, as you approach Playa del Carmen you will go through two sets of traffic lights. As you go through the second set, you will see a big shopping plaza on your left, it is orange. Keep going south and you will come to a "Returno" which will allow you to U turn and go north. Take the U Turn and stay in the far right lane, and you can enter the plaza from there.

Location: on the main coastal highway from Cancun, just south of Av. Juárez, the main entrance to PDC

Panaderia del Carmen - Grocery Store in Playa del Carmen

Baked goods and bread.

Location: On 30th Avenida, between 6th and 8th street

El Molino (excellent cakes, esp. pastel con tres leches) on 30th a bit south of Juarez

We recently received this question, so we asked some of the wedding planners in Cancun where the best places to get a wedding cake are.

Laura Mucel Cameras, owner of Cancun-Weddings.com, she said that she has her own cake chef. Laura said sheâ€s happy to e-mail photos of sample cakes to give you a better idea of what they can do. You can contact Laura at cancunweddingconsultant@yahoo.com.

Laura E. Vadillo, from My Cancun Wedding (www.my-cancun-wedding.com) Cancun recommended some of the bakeries mentioned in the above posting:

1. Pasteleria La Creperia

    • Hundreds of years before, the basic jewellery were made out of seashells and bone, trees and animal skin. In the ancient times, the Egyptian jewellery first came into existence. Egyptian culture inhabited technology, gemstones, and precious metals early in comparison to other places. They were inspired by the culture of royalty and aristocracy which led to thinking noble like having a deep appreciation for luxury. This made them create impactful jewellery and leading trends. Copper was the first metal that came into existence through which we as humans got so many jewellery items.  However, the major focus on jewellery came when they discovered gold. This allowed the Egyptian to rule as the first jewellery maker. The ancient Egyptians valued adornment and were worn by both men and women.  Material and metals: The plethora of material which was used in the making of this Egyptian jewellery was basically gold and silver. Egyptian has mostly attracted towards gold and the availability of silver was less in Egypt as compared to any other place. The colour variation was due to the mixing of elements such as alloys like copper, iron, silver into gold.  Charm jewellery: It was then also an interesting concept to have charms in necklaces, bracelets and other jewellery items. It’s just they were made up of stones and precious or semi-precious jewellery. In this picture above the necklace is adorned with precious stones in different charms shapes. Gem and stones: The more royal pieces of Egyptian jewellery were adorned with the precious jewellery items. The gemstones were semi-precious stones, precious stones are other various gems. The most prized stone were lapis lazuli, rock crystal, and pearls. Emeralds were also found in these jewellery pieces. These were made from ground quartz and then molded into expensive gemstones. They are also used as charm jewellery when molded or carved in different shapes.
