Site visit...any advice??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!  My fiance and I are headed to Puerto Vallarta next week to see the Dreams resort and to meet with our wedding planner (I've sent emails to Eleane, but Fatima has also been involved?).  Our wedding is still about 6 months out, but we were wanting to have better vision of what the resort looks like before making final decisions.  Has anyone else done a visit before?  Any advice of what we should be prepared to do or what we can do while we're there?  We haven't booked any outside vendors, but I'm prepared to if needed!  I don't know if we'll be able to do it all while we're there for just a couple days though.

Some questions we have/decisions to make:

Finalize ceremony and reception locations

Flowers-add to package? (we have the dreams ultimate package)

Decorations-need to make/bring?  Hire?  Are they needed?

Hair/makeup-trial run??

Bonfire/welcome party?

Menu-buffet or plated?  Can we do any tastings?

Cake flavor-tastings?

Excursions for guests-costs and options

Music situation-DJ, mariachi, music for ceremony

Rehearsal?  Is it necessary?

Thanks for any advice or ideas you have to share!  At the very least, we have a great excuse to take an extra little vacation this summer :)

Hey!

We got engaged at Dreams September 2012, and are going back for September 2014 to get married. Check out my pictures to see what the resort looks like.

As for excursions, I would use Vallarta Adventures- they have a wide variety of attractions and they are trustworthy and focus on safety of their guests. Plus, their guides are hilarious.

When you are at the resort, if you can, do the baby sea turtle release! It might be over for the season now, but if your going back in 6 months for your wedding, that outs you there for December... they might still be doing it then!

The resort also has a jungle tour- we didn't do it, but we talked to some guests who did and they said it was fantastic! It's not cost to you- part of your all-inclusive package! Also, if your adventurous, try the rock climbing- we saw some people do it, and I promised myself when we go back, I am going to do it.

If you are able to, just based on my experience of the resort, try to have your ceremony on the beach, in front of Oceana/ kid zone. The background is just so much prettier, and it tends to be a bit more private- we noticed not as many people go over there. If you have it on the Seaside beach, people still tend to be milling around and it's more crowded. Plus, you have the infinity pool just off to the side, so everyone will be staring haha.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
