Pros: Food, Hair, Chapel,
Cons: Pricey extras, pay for privacy,

We married October 19, 2013 at Dreams Tulum. Overall I was very happy with the wedding . I have tried to cover most everything, but let me know if there is something I forgot.

Planning before arrival at the resort (B-) I was a little concerned because email was touch and go. Sometimes I would get a response in a week...sometimes it was two or three. It seemed like a lot of extras were a little ridiculously priced. $6 for a tea light is insane...I also had to argue a little to get some of what I wanted. In the end though I was very happy and the planning was even better once I got to the resort.

Planning at Resort (A) I worked mainly with Anabel (and Nayeli was her right hand woman) who was incredibly hard working and very attentive. Her English is excellent and she was a joy to work with.

Cocktail Hour (A) We decided to forgo a rehearsal dinner and just pushed the tables together and set up our welcome bags and guest book for a FREE welcome happy hour at the Sugar Reef Bar. This worked out perfectly and cost us nothing....I didn't ask anyone, just sort of put it together myself and it worked out great. The bartenders were so sweet and even brought us cocktails without having to wait in line.

Spa (Hair & Makeup) (A++++) Rosalie did my hair and makeup. She took her time, my hair and makeup took 2-3 hours (makeup taking like 15min). I arrived at 11:30 and was out at 2-2:30 I believe.. I didn't mind at all that she took her time and I was prepared (my wedding wasn't until 4pm). She was a perfectionist and it really showed...my hair was VERY detailed and she hit it out of the park. One note about the makeup- they use MAC, so no need to spend a lot of money by buying it like I did as they already have a wide range of colors and products. She did an amazing job. Here are some of my getting ready photos below...

Bridal Bouqet From Resort- (B+)  I was hoping for a tad lighter peaches and pinks but overall they were very pretty and it was a nice full bouquet. The boutineers were nice too. The mother wrist corsages kept sliding  but at least our mom's didn't have to poke holes in their dresses.

Chapel Flowers (from resort florist) (F) - My far my LEAST favorite part of the entire wedding. The babies breath they used were brown and ugly. They looked cheap and honestly if I had to choose I would just not have them decorate the pews if I knew they would look the way they did. The flowers they had on the table at the head of the chapel were really small too... (The photo below is the closest view I have to them)

Chapel (A-) When I first walked into the chapel I found it so charming ...but kind of musty smelling. I asked Anabel if she could take care of that somehow, and amazingly she really did. It smelled great on the big day (not perfumy- just fresher...not sure what she did). It was perfect for a smaller wedding and it definitely was WAY more private than the beach.

------------- I will continue to update tomorrow------------------Stay tuned.

What was the average nightly rate for your guest? I plan on having 50 people at my wedding so I am hoping I will get a group rate.

I would love to know more, especially about your photographer. Did you only use the resort photographer or did you use an outside vendor? My wedding is in July
