  1. Very helpful, thanks! I think that is what we will end up doing. Do you happen to remember how many strands of lights you needed?

We got the ones from IKEA and just wrapped them around the poles at each corner. We had lanterns with lights in them that we hung also, and we ended up turning on the lights that are in las olas in each corner. So I would bring a decent amount.

  2. Hi Everyone,

We are getting married at ERC in November 2017. Reading through all of your posts have been so helpful already!! Our reception is scheduled to be at Las Olas - I really liked the idea of being on Or close to the beach. Now I'm a little worried after reading it can be a bit dark without extra lighting. I contacted my wedding coordinator at ESC for pricing on extra lighting. She referred me to an outside vendor they use, Alquimia Decor, who is quoting me about $400-$1000 for 2-4 strands of lights and/or two lanterns. This pricing seems a little bit outrageous to me. Did anyone else have similar issues? I'm wondering if I could bring some strands of lights on my own.

    Thanks!!

We had our reception at las olas and brought our own lights down. It was $50 for them to hang the lights! Hope that helps!!

  3. Loving their site and that they do cool pinatas!  I can't find their prices.. do you have an estimate?

We just used maracas Mexico also for our wedding in September and it was $200 for 20 maracas. It was like $5.50 each and there was a shipping cost. They were so responsive and I was a bit nervous at first because they had me send the money through western union but they were perfect!! Very easy to work with. I contacted them originally in feb, but fell out of communication until the beginning of august.
  4. Your pics are great @@vanessajfelice.  You look gorgeous!

Was that "love" sign just at the resort?  I haven't seen it before and it was such a cool idea you had to get pics by it!  We are thinking about adding time to our package for photos.  Did you think the 2 hours were enough?  We have the gold excellence package so just have the ceremony, then 1 hour cocktail and then the reception.

Also, did you bring the lanterns and lights you had at your reception down or buy them from there?  Were they enough?  Our ceremony is at 5pm so I am worried it will be pretty dark by the end of the reception.

    Thank you so much!

We actually rented the LOVE sign from Alquima- the vendor that does the extra decor.  It was $400 including tax.  We thought it would be a cool sign to give some light and to take pictures around!

So, for the pictures, we thought the 2 hours was more than enough time.  We did a first look from 4:30-4:50.  Then we had the ceremony from 5-5:30, the cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30 and sat down for dinner after that.  I think we actually probably did not even use her the full 2 hours we paid for.  So, for the ceremony, they "give" 20 minutes for that in addition to what you rent them for.  We did not want any of the getting ready or reception pics.  Our big thing was our first look, the ceremony and pics after of us on the beach.  So, we thought it was perfect!  It really all depends on what you are looking for from your pictures.

We did bring the lanterns and lights.  We paid $50 for them to hang them.  We brought 30 lanterns with little LED lights and the 4 sets of lights around the poles.  We did not want the Las Olas lights on at all, but it turns out they only had enough time to hang 15 of them with only 1 of our LED lights in each, so we needed the las olas lights they have in the corner.  Even with all of that, it was not too bright and we were happy with it.  Our ceremony was at 5 and we probably turned on the lights around 7:30.

  5. Hello there! So I finally got our professional pictures uploaded on google photos. We just used beach wedding studios through the hotel for 2 hours and they were amazing! I believe they are called seasons wedding studio now.

The gazebo is permanent and with the wedding packages, they will put the drapes around the poles and also the carpet runner and the starfish and shells along it.

The food was amazing. We did the scallop with mixed greens for an app, seafood bisque for soup and then the filet and scallops app. We did the chocolate agavero cake for dessert and it was really rich. Then for our wedding cake we had 2 different flavors- one being tres leches which was SO GOOD. I only have a time line for our spa day and hair/makeup appts and then our photographer timeline for first look and ceremony. Once we sat down for the reception part, we just did it however we wanted since there was only 18 of us.

I'm happy to answer anything else that anyone needs though!

  6. I can not believe that we leave a week from tomorrow! So excited! I have been working with Ariana and I have found that if I am not getting an answer fast enough for me, I can call and get an immediate answer, which is nice. She has been super helpful so far and I am hopeful for the whole thing going smoothly! Does anyone know of a great packing list for the resort? I know I will forget something!!

Good luck Jamie! We arrive on your wedding day, so I will peek around that evening to see if I can sneak a peek! It's all going to be perfect and if it isn't, we are still in Mexico, so that is awesome on its own!

  7. Hey ladies! So we are down to just over a month until our wedding! It came so fast! Does anyone know if there is lighting in las Olas? We purchased 30 Chinese lanterns that they are going to hang for us so we can put the lights in there and hope that is enough, or get some string lights also. I was hoping to have the Chinese lanterns hung more randomly than following the pattern of lights, but I also want my guests to be able to see their dinner! We are not doing a DJ, so we won't have the extra lighting from that.

    Thank you so much!

  8. Hi Ladies! I sent off my first list of questions (after accumulating them like everyone suggested) to Thamara, our assigned coordinator! It's been a week, but that seems normal based on experiences I've read. Anyone know about how long they are at to return with answers?

Also, we have never been to Excellence - Where would I find a list of excursions and prices? We are staying after for our honeymoon and want to get off the resort and do fun things like ziplining or parasailing..

Hello! We are working with funjet for our wedding and travel accommodations and they just recommended Maroma Adventures for excursions. Full disclosure- I have not had a chance to look at the website yet!

By the way, I just noticed we will be in Mexico at the same time!!! Our wedding is 5 days before yours!

Sent! Hopefully it gets to you! Oh my gosh, so you are the 17th then? We arrive on that day! Are you getting so excited? I cannot believe it is only 2 months away!

  10. @@vanessajfelice I just uploaded the gold package guide and the flower bouquet options to my public gdrive. You can download them from here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_zoyOhoKIAheDFUaTJxN3llc1k&usp=sharing

Thank you! We actually decided not to do the gold, we are doing the excellence love one (the middle one), then we took the extra money and am doing a welcome cocktail reception. I will totally take a look though!!

  11. @@vanessajfelice I believe it is any centerpiece from the "centerpiece catalog." You're wedding coordinator should have emailed you the PDF document with all the centerpieces. If not, let me know and i'll try to figure out how to attach it here. There are many different centerpieces, ranging in size and shape.

Yes, I definitely do not have it. If you can attach it, that would be great. Or, you can email me if that is easier? Felicejohnsonwedding@@gmail.com

    Thank you so much!

  12. Well I have got the joke for the day! we are working with a travel agency that specializes in destination weddings and we have a concierge who acts as the go between with the hotel and us. For center pieces we just wanted something simple with 3 cylinder vases of different sizes with some floating candles. Super simple. I asked how much it was to rent the set of 3 with candles. Guess the price?? $85 a set!! That is $28 a vase!
