  1. Let's see if you all can be more helpful than these wedding coordinators. 1. Can people staying at another hotel have hair and make up done at the Spa? 2. Is there a table set up for Escort Cards (guest table cards) 3. How are tables set up? Trying to figure out my seating chart. 4. I'm setting up an excursion to Xcaret, can people staying at another hotel be picked up or do they need to mee us at Azul? That's all I can think of for now. I'm sure I will have more questions to follow.
  2. So, I finally here back from the wedding coordinator after 3 weeks and it's not even the one that was assigned to me from the resort. It was still the Miami coordinator. Also, she only answered a few of my questions and not all the ones I had sent in my last email. Now, I'm probably going to have to wait another 3 weeks for her to respond to my last email. UGH!!!!!
  3. No actually I got Marion. I wonder if the Miami coordinators are no longer going to be in use. And from now on everyone who books at a Karissa hotel will deal with a Onside coordinator. That would be the best thing they could do for sure.
  4. I'm doing regular hair and make up but have yet to be quoted an amount. I went to scout the hotel and then again for the brides dress rehearsal and the wedding staff on site is awesome. So, I know they will take good care of us. Much more organized then Miami. I just hope this doesn't change now that they probably have a load of other brides they will be dealing with. I had a block of 15 rooms and I'm only using 8. So that will free up some rooms but I know it's after your wedding so that doesn't help you much. I also requested the bridal suite at the spa. I never received confirmation on if I got it or not. So who knows! I'm going to reach out to the person they assigned me at the hotel later today. Hopefully we are on the same page because I would hate to have to start all over again with someone else. Good luck!
  5. @@amyzig2 I just got that same email. I am livid! I have had my wedding planner changed like 4 times. And every time it's a new one I have to explain everything all over again. I've never heard of them switching brides towedding coordinators on site but I do prefer that. I felt like dealing with Miami was dealing with a middle man anyways. But now I have to wait for this person to review everything and contact me. How long with that take? I had just send out an email last week with questions that I'm sure I won't get answers to till maybe a week or 2 from now. Ugh!
  6. @@HolaAmigos Hi! My father also passed away and I plan on having a sign that reads "I know you would be here today if heaven weren't so far away". Maybe having it on the altar with a candle or at the table where the guest book would be. Haven't decided that part yet. They have the signs on Etsy.com. very cute! I also plan on putting my dad's picture in a charm and adding it to my bouquet so that he can walk with me down the isle. In my opinion having the empty chair makes it very visible that someone is missing and might make the mood of your wedding sad. You want people to be happy and you and your husband to be the focus, not the people that have passed away.
  7. I'm not sure if they did it directly through Marina El Cids website or if they did it through some company like Fun jet or Apple. I'm going to have to break it down for them once again so they can truly see price difference. My fiance says I'm over reacting. He doesn't think a Hotel would cancel a wedding because of the 80% rule. Since final numbers have to be in 45 days prior, if they canceled that would mean they would only have 45 days to book another wedding for that day or lose all the money we would have brought in. Hopefully we won't have an issue but I am a bit OCD and always like to plan ahead incase life happens.
  8. Some have timeshare they will use and others have booked at Marina El Cid. From what they tell me they got a package with Airfare and it comes out cheaper than Azul Sensatori. Plus the contract I signed with Travel Agent didn't include Air. I also did mention the $80 to come visit us and the taxi fees would add up. The hotel is 25-30th away from Azul. But they still feel it would save them money this way. I'm just so worried that we won't meet the 80% of guest stay at the hotel.
  9. Ok, so I am starting to panic. Given the high price at Azul Sensatori some of our family is opting to book elsewhere. This is driving me crazy because our contract says 80% of our wedding guest must be staying at the hotel or they will cancel the wedding. Has anyone had this experience? Please help!
  10. @@amyzig2 Seaweed was at a minimum. I was visiting the Hotel in June and I saw a lot more seaweed then. There was a truck cleaning it first thing in the morning and a few men cleaning it through out the day. During the day I saw none on the sand but of course they can't control what's in the sea. The water here is certainly not crystal clear. I did notice seaweed on the sand later at night. But nothing you have to worry about during the day. Plus, I'm glad it won't be in my wedding pictures since I will be having my ceremony on the beach.
  11. Hello ladies! I got back last week from the Brides Dress Rehearsal and it was great. We got in Sunday the 25th of October and were put in the Premium Section. After picking or pillows and scent for the room we went over to the Mexican Restaurant for lunch. Delish I must say! We then did a quick change and off to the pool we went. That night we had dinner at the Italian Restaurant which was also good. Monday we had breakfast at the Caribbean Restaurant and had more pool time. Around 12pm we had a tour of the grounds and some of the rooms in other sections. I love the newly remodeled Kid Section. Since we have children and are having guest with children at the wedding, having a great kid section was important. They did an amazing job with that section. For lunch that day we ate at Spoon which had a nice selection of buffet style food but also had a menu you can order from. After lunch we enjoyed the Spa and got massages. They were amazing and the Spa is great although the woman's section was being fixed so they converted the men's section into a Coed area. That didn't bother me although I can see how it might bother other people. For dinner Monday night I can't remember what we did. I know at some point we ate at the Beach BBQ location which was also good and a great location to relax. We also laid out on the beach and soaked in the rays.Tuesday we had breakfast at Spoon and I had a Make Up test run at the Spa. They use all Mac Makeup and she got very close to my vision although I was never given the option of having false lashes put on, once I remembered to mention it, it was too late to apply them. Either way the makeup was great and lasted all day but you couldn't really see it when we took pictures. So now I'm worried you wont be able to tell I have make up on in my wedding pictures. Next we headed to the lobby for our transfer to El Dorado. We were told the the transfer would be there at 11:45 , it did not arrive till 12:50pm. The group of ladies waiting were so upset because of course the event went on without us over at El Dorado. Once we arrived we were greeted with drinks and took some pictures which we never received. We then entered the ballroom and were able to meet photograher's, videographer's and also taste some of the food and cake. My BFF and I were able to pick out my decor and see the different color options available. After some complaining on our behave that we missed the entire presentation, they decided to redo the presentation for our group. They went over all the hotel and wedding packages offered. All the women in our group had already booked a wedding date which sucked because this means you don't get the $500 hotel credit for booking within 30 days of the brides dress rehearsal. I think that is so unfair. Given the fact that we feel pressured to book online right away to secure the date we want, any bride who makes it to the Brides Dress Rehearsal should be given the $500 credit. Once we got back to the hotel we had dinner over at the Mexican Restaurant again and met up with another bride and her mom. I had some chicken with this amazing sweet plantain puree. Soooo good! We then headed back to the room for some relaxation. Wednesday we had breakfast at the Caribbean Restaurant and headed to the Airport for our flight back to Chicago. During our stay we were able to see about 4 weddings going on. They were all beautiful and different from one another which gave me a better idea of what I wanted. I'm so glad I took the opportunity to go because we got to check out the restaurants and get a good feel for the hotel. This will make it much easier for me to answer questions for my wedding guest. I can make recommendations on restaurants and what section they might want to book in along with being able to fully see what my wedding will entail. I totally recommend this to all brides if it's in the budget.
  12. @@bean1983 Congratulations Chicago Bride! I'm from Chicago also and getting married at Azul Sensatori in Riviera Maya on June 25th, 2016.
  13. Just got in today to Azul Sensatori for the Brides Dress Rehearsal. Got to take a peak of two weddings going on. So exciting!
  14. @amyzig awe, thanks! Let me know if you need anything else. We need all the support we can get since these WC areally not very helpful.
  15. @@amyzig2 Here is kind of the look I,m going for. But instead of the long vase with flowers I plan on going with a long vase with seashells and a candle. Well, I think that's what I'm going for, I might change my mind... again! lol...
  16. @@amyzig2 Yed, real touch flowers look real and are pretty. Also, much less expensive than real flowers. Check out Katy she also has those flowers for rent. I am doing a Bojo Chic theme so I am going with lanterns, candles and maybe a few shells in a vase with sand. Haven't decided on flowers. But if I do get some sort of flower it will be a small arrangement of maybe like 4 or 5 roses next to lantern.
  17. @@carrieandsam Yeah I'm probably getting them from her. But I wanted to string them from above. Not on the poles. I wanted to string the bulb lights and maybe a few of the stars Katy also has.
  18. Hello ladies! Ok, so we are doing our cocktail hour and reception at Plaza Zavas. Has anyone strung lights in the gazeebo? If so, how many strings of lights did you need? I want to use the larger bulb lights like the ones pictured here. But not sure how many I would need. Please Help!
  19. About eve everything else I'm not sure. But as far as decor lots of Brides who don't want to lug everything from home, use Kathy in Playa del Carmen. You can check out what she has on her Facebook page Love and Lace. She has great prices. :-)
  20. @@amyzig2 I believe it's $80 for adults and $40 for kids under 12. Hello ladies... I want to make sure all my website info is correct and ready for my guest. My Save the Date went out this week. So, with that being said, is Lomas also the one who provide the transfer from the airport to the hotel? If so, who do your guest contact to give their travel info to in order to be picked up?
  21. @@ELAINENYC Yeah, I love the idea and told the Fiance it was up to him. I think the guys would love it. But only getting 30 cigars in the end I find a bit crazy. We can get a lot more boxes of cigars for $550 and just set up a cigar bar. But of course the fun part is having a roller. We'll see what he decides, that's one thing I will leave up to him. Jajajaja
  22. Hello Ladies! I was planning on using Mini Patron bottles to attach the Escort Cards to. Does anyone know if this is allowed? I know I read somewhere that no outside liquor is allowed but I'm not sure if this counts.
