  1. @@rtscent NICE! 35 rooms! And you weren't worried that if you didn't lock in the amount of rooms needed, that there wouldn't be enough? Haha. I guess not cuz you went from 10 to 35!!! Eeps! I'm so excited for everyone!
  2. @@rtscent - For now, they won't We even agreed to sign in like a couple of days, and we were only able to knock it down $50 (so from $900 to $850) and they told our agent that the rates they're offering now for 2015 were part of the "opening special". I guess they're getting so dang popular that they're not playing ball? I *am* having my agent keep a close eye to negotiate for lower rates even after we lock in. But GAH. It's kind of nervewracking. On the plus side, if my guests stay without kids at EDR, it still counts for our promotions and EDR is significantly cheaper. It's honestly probably where FH and I will stay. Can I ask how you did the room blocks for yours? I really hate the idea of families being charged practically double but the only other hotel I would even contemplate is Dreams Tulum (which is currently offering a up to 2 kids stay free with adults promo) and it doesn't look like they're offering the same kind of bennies we get here for private events and stuff. Speaking of, any size limitations you can think of that they're warning you about on these private events? PS I LOVED your etsy pomanders, brilliant idea! I think we might have to go that route too!
  3. Here are the specifications for the "Unlimited Events" Promotion: (combinable with Bride & Groom Stay Free Promotion) · 10-15 rooms – Two hour cocktail party (1) per stay · 16-20 rooms – Three course dinner (1) per stay · 21 rooms or more – Two hour cocktail event and Three course dinner/lunch event (1) per Day · 50 rooms or more - Unlimited private events daily Also! Apparently you cannot have a ceremony on Friday, Saturday or Sunday if you want to qualify. I'm still getting details on what exactly is free for these "private events". I know that they have a set catering menu, but we have no issue using it. I'm just curious what the limitations are for this. I'm sure they exist! @rtscent -- THANK YOU! I really am glad to have found you ladies. This whole thing is a bit daunting and planning so far ahead has me thinking...what if I'm missing something? Is it stupid to plan so far out? We have the contract in hand....we just need to bite the bullet and sign it but I'm really worried about the pricing at GRM for next year as it looks like they're telling us they'll be unable to honor a lot of the deals from this year because they're considering "opening promos". So those great rates you are seeing now, for us in August 2016, it's looking like they're asking closer to $900 per person for 3 nights/4 days! That's just insane! But if we can get all these extra kickbacks/freebies, I'm hoping I'll have the opportunity to offset some of these for our guests. It's really only the people with families that are going to have the biggest hit, but I want to minimize it as much as possible, but I'm not sure I'm covering all possible bases!
  4. I will absolutely do that! And yes! They are handling flights as well as keeping an inventory of everyone who books in a spreadsheet and sending them to us for our records so that I can have a copy as well. I love our Agent, she's very sweet! and super thorough. But I am always curious as to the advantages of one vs another you know? I had asked about the Catamaran and looks like you are right, it's a DW.Com special. The extra thing she can offer is just the $500 cocktail credit or $500 spa credit or $500 photo credit. (Looks like it is this one that @@ChiTiff mentions! ) - Free" Gift from your travel agent at the resort: If you use one of Karisma's GIWC, you get one of the following: 1) a free brides package (I think it's mani/pedi for the bride, a guest, hair, makeup, and something else?), 2)one hour cocktail party, or 3)$500 credit from Caribe Photo.
  5. OH! How do we get this? I'm currently using beachbumvacations.com to book and I haven't had any mention of those two!
  6. THANK YOU! August 2016! I think...LOL I'm still very nervous about putting the final yes to this contract. What really convinced you to say yes?
  7. Thank you!!! I am definitely scouring the interwebs to see what I can find. But goodness is there a lot of stuff Can you ladies share what you were able to get? Right now all I have would be: the standard Bride/Groom stay 7 nights min and 5 rooms booked at 3 nights min for the 'Free Wedding' (which will still cost us $650 for the Priest anyway) and then the Private Events promo:21 rooms or more – Two hour cocktail event and Three course dinner/lunch event (1) per Day And that is with our ceremony on a Thursday. And then I believe we have the 1 free room/night for every 10 rooms. We're also getting a $500 cocktail credit for booking this early. This will be for Early August 2016! We're a couple days away from our "contract signing" deadline and I'm getting nervous that we're missing something. The cancellation policy seems pretty strict! Not that I imagine FH is going to ditch me, but what if we decide this is all too much and just want to elope? LOL. GAH. A part of us really contemplated Dreams Tulum as the deals seem a little better but reading all your insight really pushes us back towards Generations (And El Dorado!) because of the option to stay at 2 hotels and have it still count for any "freebies". So IDK! What am I missing? Am I overthinking this? lol
  8. **sneaks in** Hi Just joined this forum and BDW because we have decided to have our wedding at GRM too! I am kind of crazy overwhelmed by these 27 pages of posts but I am very thankful to all of you for posting! I fear I may come back with loads of questions, but I've gotten so much insight already and it's all thanks to you! My main concern right now is cost....I'm not sure if this can be done on the cheap when we factor in all that is said in done!
