Hi Ladies,

 

We just confirmed our wedding date for November 19th at Dreams Las Mareas.

 

I have also had very poor communication with our coordinator Claudia.

 

When I emailed the resort request the 19th for our date, she sent me all this paperwork to fill out, asking where we wanted the ceremony & reception, and wanted various information for the booking. I thought this was a little strange because I had yet to see any photos of venue options to be able to provider her with that information. I ended up filling it out to the best of my knowledge (thinking I will change things down the road as I receive more information), and sending it in. After she confirmed my deposit was taken, and the wedding date was booked, she then proceeded so send me VERY little information and photos - still not sufficient enough for me to make those decisions. She said she will contact me 4 months before the wedding date to go over more details, however, I would like to have more of an idea now so I can decide if I want to bring in my own vendors, and perhaps bring my own center pieces, linens, etc.

 

I'm hoping some of you ladies might have more pictures or information and pricing on decor items and venue information that you wouldnt mind sharing with me!

Did you get in trouble for saying "fb group"? ...

I was told that advertising the FB group was a forum violation (its not even my group...lol... I didn't realize i was "advertising" I was just trying to help a bride)... I had no Idea

Do you think it was the link that was the violation... or just saying "fb group" ... lol... I asked the owner and im waiting to hear back

There are lots of brides getting married in the FB group and several of us in April. Like @@bkprettygirl mentioned joining FB just for the group will be worth it as all of us have been sharing information with each other as we get it since it's takes awhile to get response from the coordinators.

Ugh! I don't have facebook but I guess I will have to start an account just for this lol.

It will be worth it...trust me...  we have lots of files, pictures and videos... everyone has been chipping in whatever they hear from  connie... One girl even went over there in november and checked everything out in person...

They still havent taken my deposit (daniel said they would when the resort opens) 

I honestly haven't tried the number yet but just saw they posted it. Bummer! Does it give a message or anything?  You emailed Connie? She's been pretty responsive with me and my TA. Roscio replied JUST replied to my email from over a month ago but never even answered my question.

You have to keep in mind that Dreams hasn't even opened yet. Yes, communication has been spotty but that's something that I can somewhat understand. A lot of their focus is on their grand opening and immediate weddings. They just got a onsite wedding manager and she has been fairly responsive. They also recently posted a direct number.

Please share what you can of your draft..  What information is going on each page?

I dont even know what to include on the invitation yet.  Did you get a day and time for your welcome party set yet?

Im kind of in limbo so I dont know what to include at all...

They'll put something nice together for you. I'm awaiting my drafts now.

I ordered some samples and they are beautiful!!! 

@@bkprettygirl, mine will be on the expensive side as I asked for several upgrades. But i think it'll be well worth it. I just don't have the bandwidth to make them how I want them so that's why I'm going to attempt to DIY everything else.

The Dreams of Love and Ultimate both come with photos. It's probably better to get one of those packages instead of the Paradise package because by the time you add in all the other extras you'll end up paying the same amount. But not really sure. 

 

We selected the Ultimate package as well. Haven't really heard many updates but looks like they added a couple of room pictures on website. 

 

Today is CR Independence Day so don't expect much response from anyone!

Yea, I noticed the flights vary sooooo much. I have some people flying out of atlanta and its 900 ... from NYC its about 500.  The people coming from atlanta might be better off flying into San Jose instead of Liberia... I have so much research to do!

Are you thinking about adding a on a separate honeymoon? We want to... but we are not sure where to go... Maybe Mexico...

I just relocated from Houston to Seattle.  

 

And it depends on the photographer.  I figured once i find the "one" i'll ask.  I would hope not to include airfare but once you get a quote see what it will run ya.  My thought was just hotel stay cause that is very generous lol.  So the way i plan on doing it is get a firm quote for everything...then be like so...."What if i tell you its destination and i can get your room covered".  IDK, worth a shot lol

 

Regarding the hotel....i received a fabulous quote!!  Cheapest room runs us $79!  So yeah is was definitely worth the hassle.  So as soon as i get the darn code my guest will be ready to get booked.  Airfare is already available....just hella expensive .  

Hey... I did not make a contract with them... most people just booked directly with the website.  i dont think they gave me a great rate actually... I was offered 104 per person for the cheapest room... Its only 106 on the website with the pre opening special.

So far I have 22 rooms booked and about 45 people in total.  The pre opening special is going to end soon so Im not sure what any late bookers are going to pay...lol... But most of my VIP's are booked.  Now Im waiting for air fare to become available.

Im getting married June 2015 and they have yet to take my wedding package deposit.  Daniel told me not to worry because my date is locked in and that it's because they do not have a credit card machine available there yet.  I would also love to go over details but it seems impossible because there are no pictures to reference with them.  So @@Laks86 if you could also share with me what ever you get i would be grateful.  

 

My additional  annoyance now lies with the group rate package.  @@bkprettygirl  did you make a contract for the rooms or just booked directly?  I had to wire them my deposit to finalize a contract and still waiting to get the group code to provide to my guests.

 

Lastly to answer your questions @@Laks86....my friend's wedding was at Dreams Los Cabos.  I loved the resort so much i visited them again a couple of years later but at Puerto Aventura, MX.  Even back in 2011 she faced the same dilemmas we are now.  The one thing she said is a "must" is to hire a planner.  She claims that was the best $500 she spent.  She did a custom package and the planner found us someone to do our hair and makeup, photographer, charter service to transport from church back to hotel,DJ, mariachis, hell you name it the planner found it. Reason I started to look at forums and blogs was to find myself a planner.   My friend said that the planner even began dealing directly with the Dreams planner and was much more efficient at getting answers and what not for her.  I suppose the hotel is handling multiple weddings and whomever is our designated coordinator will be just as busy pleasing multiple brides.  So just a thought if you ladies haven't already considered it.

About the photographer from the other forum....I guess it would be cheaper to book them a room... do we have to pay for their flight too?  Just one night in the hotel or 3 days?  I have no idea

OMG me too!!!  June 25th to be exact.  Anxiously waiting for updated pics and feedback.  Are you also having trouble communicating with anyone there?  Just makes me nervous handling it all via email and phone calls.

This is my dream trip too... but it will easily be 10,000 bucks so im not sure if we will be able to swing it and the wedding...

My tips... COSTO!! They have great prices and packages WITH airfair from LA... check them out... let me know what you think..

9 days will be more than enough from what ive read ... there is no entertainmnet at all and its pretty secluded... so 9 days of just laying around and maybe scuba diving ... should be enough...lol

I think this is where we would like to go, we live in the Midwest, do you think 9 days total would be enough for the trip (like 2 days travel time and 7 days there). Any tips?
