  1. We had 80 + people come so couldnt afford to do welcome bags...but we got personalized maracas, and personalized sunglasses (which was awesome as then u could see who was with you group on the resort and was a great ice breaker for guests who didnt know eachother) and also, it was great for a group photo after
  2. Awesome!! my wc is Maria too! Did u guys do a legal or symbolic ceremony? what kind of decor did u bring with you? setup?? Did you have to ask for the wedding day time line for the guests or was that just provided? extra cost? How was the resort photographer? Glad to hear the wedding day went smoothly! we as well have 80+ ppl coming so set up for them will be extensive...was there any hidden charges with anything you werent expecting?? thank you so much for ur help and advice
  3. @@Ellia123. congratulations! that's awesome! Icleave 2 weeks today for my wedding...getting married at akumal! any tips? feedback? who was your coordinator?
  4. That's awesome! Are all of your guests on the same flight as you? we have 40 from Toronto and 40 from Vancouver (where I'm from). What time is your ceremony? Things are coming together, but still things to do...what do you still have left to do? What celebration is at 3pm? I have my 2nd dress fitting tomorrow- yay!!! How long do you guys stay for?
  5. @@katou Yes, I have been told that as well....Our dinner is only private from 5:30-6, then more guests will be coming in I guess. I was told the same thing about music. Are you doing the poolside reception after? We have the same wedding date- crazy eh? Our ceremony is at 12 noon, and then our dinner at Don Pablo 5:30-7:30. I'm happy we got a few hours in between for us to take pictures 9we have 2 photographers) as well as for the guests to relax and do their own thing, or maybe all hang in the lobby together...it will make my wedding day extra long- yay!!! we then have our poolside party at the Akumal main pool bar "White Sands" from 8-11pm with DJ. I have been told you can request songs, but that the dj usually has a good playlist- have you heard anything about the DJ? are you doing speeches at the restaurant or the the reception?? I think for the wedding music, you can bring any format (cd, ipod etc.) but not 100%...anyone know? That is a great idea to get the calendar of events for the week....if you find out how, can you let me know? When do you arrive at the resort? We arrive Sunday November 16th. Where are you coming from? We have a group of 80 ppl coming for our wedding- can't wait!!!
  6. @katou I need to do the same, but was told we couldn't bring music into the restaurants as the music is played on a resort wide radio type thing. Have you been told differently? Anyone know if you can play your own music at the restaurants? Also, can you pay to have a mic at a restaurant? I'm doing my wedding dinner at Don Pablo. Thanks
  7. Lyndsay- this is going to be beautiful!!! you have done such a fantastic job!!! :-)
  8. A QUESTION FOR BRIDES (past and future)- Anyone know if you can get your wedding certificate in English? Also, I am having a 3 tiered cake (as I have 80 guests) but was told I can't do the 3 milk for this bc of the consistency of the cake....did anyone else have this issue? If so, what cake would you recommend?? Another thing, is we are wanting both sets of parents on our wedding certificate, but they are saying we need to bring our birth certificates apostilled and translated into Spanish. (For Canadian Citizen, apostilled means legalized by an official translator by the law of Canada)- anyone know where this can be done? One last thing, is I want my sister (Maid of Honour) to be one of my witnesses at the ceremony, is this do-able? Thanks
  9. Anyone have the onsite photographers contact information? I'm looking at getting in touch! thanks
  10. Wait so the white fabric u see at the akumal wedding site I have to bring??
  11. I am doing the legal ceremony...what does that entail? Can we write our own vows for this? Do you have to get your fingers stamped? Is there the sand unity as well? How long does the ceremony take? Also for the speeches, we are going to do them at dinner. We have 85+ people coming, so want everyone to be able to hear. Will they allow a microphone in the restaurant? Do they rent it out?
  12. @@katou I am getting married in November too! when is your wedding? Mine is November 20th @@katou Also, have you been given Arlequin as your restaurant for your dinner? If so, what time?
  13. Hi! I've just received an email from Maria our coordinator and she is only giving me options for dinner at Frutos del mar and Dolce vita NOT Arlequin which is where I want it....does anyone know why this may be?
  14. Hey guys! Anyone interested in sharing a photographer? I'm getting married November 20th (at Akumal Beach) If you are withing 5 days of this, and are interested in sharing the costs...let me know! Also, I'm looking at ordering some maracas for my wedding. Anybody have any ideas on where I can order them? I'd prefer to order them ahead of time to a place down there, so I don't have to bring them down with me, and pay shipping etc... Looking at probably needing 90 maracas (so 45 sets)...and would like them personalized (nothing special just our names and date) Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! thanks
  15. Hello everyone! I am getting married on November 20 2014, at the Akumal Beach location at 12 noon. That was the only time available unfortuantley, as I was hoping for a 1 or 2pm...Will it be really hot at that time? I'm not sure what to wear on my feet if anything, for walking on the sane.... anybody have advice on that? I also have a few questions...what is the BBQ Theme dinner night? Is that the private dinner on the poolside? I am hoping to get Arlequin for my 85+ guests- and I was told 5:30pm for that...but how long do we get the restaurant for I was told 2 hours? I read in an earlier post that someone had it for 5 hours?? I'm hoping it will be private as we have a large group coming....after dinner then do a private poolside reception. Also, when is the best time to take pictures. I would like some after the ceremony, but thought maybe right before dinner taking some pictures with the sunset... Thanks for your advice and replies!
  16. @Tlseege- I will ask @@jfarrowable if she is interested in sharing the costs with me...that would help out a lot!!!! I like that you have been to this resort and know where to go etc.... :-)
  17. @ what was your pricing for the week of November 20th? there was somebody else, I think @@jfarrowable who was getting married on the 18th...and we were hoping to share in the travel costs, but wondering what you would charge for the day? My wedding is on the 20th..Thanks
  18. I'm staying and getting married at Akumal beach at 12noon....I have been told...hoping for a little later though...
  19. @jfarrowable- this is what the photographer from Wisconsin said. She has photographed at this resort many times. She would arrive the 16th and leave on the 21st. It would be about $1900 including full day wedding coverage, all edited images, with a signed print release and an online gallery for family and friends. Also, which location are you getting married at? what time?
  20. Hi @@jfarrowable....I am in Vancouver. Prices are definitely cheaper from Toronto (about $300) as I have guests coming from Toronto for my wedding. I don't have anyone in mind...do you have anyone? There is also a photographer from Wisconsin (Trisha Faber) who might be willing to give us a deal??? What do you think?
  21. I am looking at getting 80-100 maracas for my wedding in November 2014. I think I should get them down there, so I don't have to bring them down with me. Does anyone have a company that makes them in Playa Del Carmen that would deliver to the hotel resort? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  22. Thank you so much for the info. For the poolside reception, when you say to pick the cheapest option, do you mean the beer, margarita mix, sparkling wine one which is $8/pp??? That would be awesome if we got upgraded for free!!! For the photographer, I might just have to ask some friends to take pictures....hmmmm For the restaurants I am deciding between Arlequin or Don Pablo
  23. Hello! I have never been to this resort but hears it's fantastic!!! I am getting married on November 20th at 12pm noon on Akumal beach. We have around 80-90 guests coming, so looking at options for such a large group. Any tips? I would like to do the a la carte for dinner and hopefully use the whole restaurant just for us (one that is 100 ppl max or something). Any recommendations? What about the photographers. We bought a package where we get 10 photos included, but how long are the photographers with you for? Do they take pictures while you are getting ready with your girls? The groom with the groomsmen or just the ceremony and a few after?? What about the after party reception. I have been told it's worth it to do the poolside reception after dinner but that they charge per person (with 80-90 ppl that is expensive!!!) Thank you so much in advance. Becky
