    Azul Beach Set Up

    Private Events Set Up
  4. Yes, they were all private. For the beach locations, they section it off and post a sign informing other guests it's a private event. I didn't bring decor, but for the cocktail hours, all the tables were tall cocktail tables covered with white cloth and ribbon. For the entire stay, we brought our own speaker and hooked up our iPod to it. They also have equipment you can rent but for 38 of us, our music did fine. If you want to use your own decor, they will charge you a set up fee. I'll post a few pics so you can see what we had. Give me a moment to get to a desktop. -Nyree
  5. We set that one up while we were there and it was not a part of the unlimited events because we requested it too late. BUT you can request it. All requests must be done 60 days before your wedding. You can book your event (cocktail, dinner, lunch, etcetera...) but the hotel will tell you where the event will be held. Not to worry. All locations are pretty awesome.
  6. Hey All, I just got married at Azul Beach on August 15th for 36 guests and overall, it was fantastic. I mean, if you're getting married here, you'll absolutely LOVE it. The attention and care of the wedding coordinators are unsurpassed. I'm far from a bridezilla but I'm a producer, so I know how to produce and event and they thought of everything I didn't even think of. They even suggest ways to save you money. The team is incredible. However, nothing is perfect. There are a few bumps you'll have to deal with and I'll get to that in a moment. I booked via Destination Weddings, which was great because you get a lot of perks you normally wouldn't get if you book directly with Karisma. HOWEVER, Karisma also offers deals you may not get unless you book directly with them. Check with both and compare. However, be sure you have a great person to work with. Mine dropped the ball a few times and frustrated myself and my guests. We got married on the Sky Deck which we loved. The beach isn't huge and we really felt like it was a separate event as opposed to it being in the same place we just sunbathed in earlier that day. It's overpriced for what you get, (and PLEASE do not order a mojito as your signature drink. It was gross…) but still a lovely location. As for decor, I got four sheers, two hanging corsages, rose petals on the aisle and 10 chair bows. I have no idea what it all looked like. When you're walking down the aisle, really, none of it matters. We even got to choose out exit song, which was awesome. Because of the rooms booked we qualified for unlimited events. I had a welcome cocktail party, a welcome dinner. Cocktail after the wedding, then dinner and the final night we had a bonfire smore's celebration on the beach that people are still talking about. We were having so much fun, other guests asked to join us. Now the bad. The "concierge" they assign you gives you the overall run of the place, however they try to sell you REALLY HARD on joining the Prestige Travelers club. They will tell you it's better than a time share. They will really try to sell you on this. Tell them NO THANK YOU and please do not solicit my guests. Also, they will refer you to your Lomas Travel advisor who will arrange your return trip to the airport. He will try to sell you on all the group tours which are run through the same company, Maroma Adventures. I've been to Mexico quite a few times and they were the worst experience. It felt very "Disney" to us and during our jet ski excursion, two of them broke down. Do NOT do this. OK, so the food. The Italian & Asian restaurants are excellent. Go early. There are no reservations but because of the popularity, there is a bit of a wait. The beach butlers are amazing. Attentive, funny and super accommodating. If you tip them well in the beginning, you'll be your best friends. The entire hotel has been renovated so it's pretty amazing. You get to pick out your own pillow for your room and your own Aromatherapy scent. Nice touch. Room service is 24hrs and included. You can order breakfast in bed the night before, so forgo paying for it. We didn't get a wedding cake. We heard that it wasn't that great and the Asian restaurant made one for us while we dined there, so there really was no need. Nobody missed it. My guests raved about the intimacy of the resort. It is a family resort but it didn't feel as if you were overrun with children. We think it has something to do with the size. If you go through Destination Weddings you'll go through Lomas Travel and their team in Miami. Be patient. They take about a day to get back to you but they are very helpful. I had a great experience with Lynda Gomez. As for the photography, we went with Lucidum Photography and the lead photographer Vincent. Yes we paid the outrageous $800 fee…but we both felt it was worth it. We checked the International Society of Wedding Photographers first. In order to join you must submit your work and be approved. As per their website…. "We screen and review every member before their application is accepted. When you hire an ISPWP photographer, you can be confident that they have years of experience, they have shot a LOT weddings in a wide variety of situations, and they subscribe to a professional code of conduct. They truly are the best in the world and each one of them has dedicated their professional lives to their craft. In short, we’ve done the searching and screening for you." http://www.ispwp.com Vincent and his team were incredible. Visible when you needed them. Invisible when you didn't but always working. I skyped with him ahead of time. I can't wait to see the photos! Long story short, the wedding was perfect. You'll love Azul Beach. They do weddings right. -Nyree
  7. I'm wondering if anyone else is having trouble getting in contact with the staff here? I put in my request almost two weeks ago, sent emails and have called today. Both times I have gotten an automated response. I'm wondering if I should take my business elsewhere? I'd hate to do that, since I feel in love with the work and the reviews have been so glowing, but I'm under the gun and need to know this is a reliable vendor. Also, there a few women at my job who are also getting married and wonder about this vendor. Any help would be appreciated!
