  1. We're doing engagement photos... They are included in the package, and our photographers and videographer arrive three days prior to the wedding. We are doing a picnic shoot two days before the wedding, and on that same night the photographers and videographer are throwing an engagement party for us (with pro pics!). We are never officially going to be engaged before our wedding, so my FI is going to give me a ring before that shoot - a ring we are going to add a diamond to every year on our wedding date.

The shoot is going to be very casual, and we are just going to enjoy ourselves with good food, swimming, and just a relaxing day with our new friends :)

  2. I've dreamed about Fiji all my life, and neither me nor my FI wanted a big wedding. We didn't really see the point of using lots of money on something we didn't want, so we arranged a trip around the world, and combine the wedding with the honeymoon... We'll be gone for 1,5 months, and it's our perfect vacation/wedding/honeymoon. There will only be the two of us, with two photographers, a videographer (both from New Zealand) and my makeup artist (local from Fiji).

We save a lot of money, and the money we do use, is only for the two of us! Gone all out with the best hotels and resorts, and one of the most important thing is the photos and video for our parents and friends (and of course ourselves).

This is our day, and we are VERY happy with how we are going to do it :) Nobody in our family knows about this, so they are getting a huge surprise when we get back to Norway <3

  3. We are having a TTD... Right after the ceremony, actually.... We're eloping, so we don't have all the bridal party and family photos to think about... I've bought two dresses: one for the ceremony and TTD, and one for the intimate beach dinner and party with the locals at night.

Getting married in Fiji. The ceremony is going to be in the tropical forest of the beautiful Taveuni island, and the TTD is going to take place at a waterfall and the beach. I love my dress, but I really want the amazing photos..... We have an outside shower at our bungalow, and the staff is going do wash out the salt water, and later, when it dries, they are going to dry clean it for me! We are staying at this resort for 10 days before we move on to another island, so it has plenty of time to dry!

  4. You're getting married in Fiji?? That was our dream fantasy honeymoon location! We couldn't make it happen, but we sure dreamed about it! Hopefully one day we will make it there. That will be amazing!! You better come back to post pics after your wedding I'm totally going to stalk you ;)

  5. I'm crazy in love with the ruffled chair covers... I'm wondering if anyone knows where to buy them? I want them in either ivory, or in a ivory/blue ombre... We only need two! We are having a super intimate wedding dinner with just the two of us, and my inspiration is this pic:

I've done some google and eBay searching, but I cannot seem to find them... Any ideas? Or even a DIY tutorial or something? The ones from the pictures are from wildflower linens (http://www.wildflowerlinens.com/) , but I'm only having two, and I was hoping to find some I could buy, not only rent. Preferably not so pricey either!

  6. I had the same problem, until I found my dress! It is a high low gown, so the length can stay the same regardless! I'm planning to wear heels all the way, but I'm bringing a gorgeous pair of sandals in same color as heels (royal blue and silver), just in case my feet ache to much...

    Here is my dress:

  7. So I am getting married next July in Mexico. I haven't even tried on dresses. Have any of you started. I am at a lost on what kind of dress to purchase. are you doing traditional or something beachy if you're having destination wedding.   Hair- Who is letting the resort do their hair? I am paying for my hair stylist room so she will be there.   Shoes- We are getting married on the beach so no shoes for me until the reception. What are you doing for shoes?   Makeup- I am pretty good with makeup. I am going to start taking lessons to make sure it is flawless. What are you doing for makeup?

I would recommend you to start trying on dresses ASAP if you haven't already. If you are going for a wedding dress, esp. traditional ones, they have a long delivery time! Of course you can buy sample dresses, or even dresses that aren't wedding dresses but beautiful white dresses (if you are going for white). I'm getting married in Fiji, and I'm wearing a destination dress - a light, simple dress.

Shoes: I'm wearing heels all the way, but I do recommend flip flops, or barefoot sandals. There are a lot of beautiful ones out there! Just do a quick google search, or browse through Etsy :)

I'm flying in my own hair and makeup stylist... The resort did not have the option, but I would probably bring my own anyway.... We're also flying in two photographers and a videographer from New Zealand, because we are only going to be the two of us, so the memories in the photos and videos are for all of our family members!

  8. What do the bridesmaid dresses look like? Do they have a sash? If so, you could flip the colors... Say the bridesmaids are in blue dresses with a gold sash, maybe the MOH could wear the same style dress in gold with a blue sash? That all depends on your colors... I would for example not put my MOH in a pink dress, even if that went well with black bridesmaid dresses (because that would stand out way to much, depending on how much of the color you are using)... Or if the sash is white... No, no, no.

  9. I agree with @kellymiller: Go and talk to a seamstress!

What style is the wedding dress? Does it have a lot of fabric to work with? What style have you envisioned yourself in? I would suggest you to go through pictures online of things you like, and see if you can incorporate that in the heirloom dress. Are you planning to do big changes (use only the fabric and create a brand new dress with a different style), or are you just altering it a bit (adding/removing details, shortening, adding/removing straps etc)?

  10. Etsy has a lot of great shops. Do you like a certain style? Like pearls, hearts, simple, lots of bling? A simple search turned out to be the way to go for me! Trust me, when you see it, you'll know! There are also a lot of online stores if you google "jewelry" and the phrase/word that describes what you are envisioning...

Don't worry, you have plenty of time! I'll have to wait until I get my dress (early May) to even begin to think about buying something! Luckily I'll only be wearing some killer earrings, so I hope that will narrow the search :)

  11. We're having a baker here at home do the same cake for us a year later... We're from Norway, getting married in Fiji, so transporting cake is just out of the question :P

The baker in Fiji is going to write down the recipe for us, so that everything is as similar as possible! We are having fresh flowers on top, but I'm considering bringing a topper, so we can replicate it (no similar flowers here, I'm afraid)?

  12. Here is my beautiful Mori Lee Voyage gown!

I wanted something beachy yet formal, but when I saw this dress, I fell in love and could not think about anything else! I'm really offbeat, and with my undercut, tattoos and royal blue shoes, this was just the dress for me! Somewhat simple, but I can really pump it up with accessories and my personality!

As soon as I get it, I'll post with me in it :)
