  1. Hello! We decided to have our cocktail hour at 3, ceremony at 4, reception at 4:30/5. We will make sure to have all of our photos done before 3pm so I think we will be fine (fingers crossed). Thank you to everyone!
  2. Hello! So after doing some thinking and speaking with Brenda, our offsite planner (I call het when I need an immediate answer as emails take a long time sometimes), we have decided to stick with the Caribbean terrace but move everything to an hour earlier. This way we'll have some beautiful photos in the light and will have a view even if it's only for an hour. Also, for those that are thinking to decorate the pool at the grand terrace, Brenda informed me that it is possible as the pool closes to the public at 6pm. However, she stated, that the decorations will likely not be very noticeable as the pool is not immediately next to the tables or dance floor. @@smilenstacy and @@LydiaButterfly could you please email me your photos. I'd love to see how everything turned out! @@shan0487 we are having our ceremony on the vena do terrace. Can I see your photos from the rehearsal dinner? By the way- is Moon still using Latin Asia for flowers? Is there anyone else?
  3. Hello! This is a question for those that have seen the sunset in Cancun. We are getting married in December, and the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 5pm (cocktail hour is 4-5). According to various sources, we have been notified that the sun should set at around 5-5:15pm then. Additionally, we were told that when the sun sets in Cancun, it's not a gradual scenic event, but rather a sudden change in the color of the sky. I am wondering what color the sky would be at sunset. Does it get pitch black right away or does the sky gradually get dark but still gives enough light to see the surroundings for a little while. I am thinking to move the ceremony time to 4pm instead of 5 (cocktail hour 3-4), but if I do this then I would not be able to have fireworks immediately following the ceremony as I had initially planned. So it's a tough decision. On the other hand though, if we have the ceremony when it is still light out the pictures may come out a bit nicer and the guests could enjoy the rooftop view from the reception for a short period of time (whereas if we go up there after 5:30 as we are currently scheduled, if the sky is totally black then, they will not see the view at all). Please advise. Thank you in advance =)
  4. @shawn0487 where did you have your reception? What are your thoughts on having it on the Caribbean Terrace when it is dark? Is it still worth it? Would anything show? Confused bride over here =( Tia!
  5. Thank you! I am waiting on my wedding planner to write back to me about whether I can decorate the pool. Will be awaiting her response (sometimes it takes a while).
  6. My wedding is in December. When was yours? We were told that it gets dark by 5pm then. Do you know if this is true? Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the reply! Here is the thing though, we are getting married after sundown (ceremony begins at 5 and reception at 5:30), therefore I'm afraid that the beautiful view from the Caribbean terrace will not show. Can anyone advise on this? Thanks!
  8. Hello! I haven't been on here in a very long time as I have put the wedding planning on hold. I am now starting to continue planning and am realizing that I am not set on anything! We have already reserved the Caribbean Terrace (rooftop) for the reception, but now I am beginning to contemplate moving the reception to the Grand Terrace (by the pool) so that I can decorate the pool with floating candles and Chinese lanterns. I am looking for your opinions and advice on this. It would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you can share photos that would be great. Thank you in advance!!!

  10. Hi @@NJBride2014, Thank you for that info. I will be emailing my wedding coordinator tomorrow to see if I can negotiate the same thing as you for Del Sol... it's worth a try. I heard that paying for the photographer's night is tricky since the hotels know their local photographers and will recognize that they came for work rather than as guests, but I may be thinking too much into this. I"ll have to see. I will post an update about what happens with Del Sol. Thanks!
  11. @@NJBride2014 Thank you very much! Yes, I also find that a bit strange.. How did you work out the 2 day passes instead of the vendor's fee? I would like to do this as well! Also, were you only able to negotiate this for Del Sol or any other outside photographers?
  12. Hi @@NJBride2014, Just emailed you his package list. I have not seen his videos yet, and am also reluctant for the same reason. Where are you getting married? I am having a hard time choosing photographer and videographer. I am getting married at Moon Palace and they have only a few preferred vendors. Carlos Pasten is one of them, and I like the fact that he does both photography and videography. The only other one that offers both is Sarani but she is a bit expensive.. not sure what I am going to do yet. If he posts a demo will you please let me know?
  13. Hi @@NJBride2014, Sorry for the late reply! If you still need this, please send me your email address and I will forward you what I have.
  14. Hello everyone, I am a Moon Palace bride looking to select a photographer and videographer for our wedding. Has anyone used or seen Carlos Pasten's work? Any reviews would be greatly appreciated. I am not clear on whether he does both photography and videography. Also, if there is anyone else that you recommend for videography that would be great. Thanks in advance!
  15. Hello. Check out Moon Palace. They have a chapel and do complementary weddings for up to 30 people. You can do the ceremony/reception on the beach if you choose. I read that weddings at Xcaret cost over $20,000. Hope this helps
  16. Hi @@TMedeiros07! When is your wedding? The webinar is on March 8th, 9am-1pm. Do a quick search for it and it'll come up. You will have to sign up in order to reserve a spot. As of last night there were still spots available.
  17. Hello =) I am also interested in receiving information about butterfly release vendors. Wedding will be held at Moon Palace. Thanks!
  18. What hotels have allowed fireworks? We visited a total of 7 hotels during our site inspection, all in the Cancun and Riviera Maya areas, and were told unanimously that fireworks are not allowed because of hazard issues. Do you know if fireworks are possible at Moon Palace? Thanks in advance!
  19. Thanks for the reply, @@shan0487! I haven't spoken directly to anyone from MP yet as all communications were done through my TA. I will have to wait until after the contract is signed to get this question answered.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will agree to it =) @@Britt also thank you for your reply! Did you have to get the permission in writing? This is important to me so I would love some pointers on how to get this done. Also, dear brides, I am having a huge issue right now and am in need of some advice. I finally received the wedding contract through my TA, and although most things are pretty straight forward the most important things are not written well at all. For instance, the location of the reception is not indicated, which is something that is very important to us and we do not feel comfortable signing anything and giving a deposit until we know for sure that we are guaranteed the reception location that we have asked for. Also, the contract states that the "wedding date and time may be modified" this seems bizarre to me. Additionally, only the time of 4pm for the ceremony is indicated, but there is no clause about cocktail hour (or the time/duration of the cocktail hour), and no indication of duration/time for the reception. My fiancé who is an attorney and deals with contracts all the time says that we must add some clauses to it before we may sign it. I agree with him 100%, but don't know what is the most efficient way of getting this done. I really just want to do this ASAP and be done with it. I am so frustrated as I was waiting impatiently for this contract to finally sign it and be able to order our STDs and let everyone know of our wedding date! For anyone that had to make changes or additions to their wedding contract were you successful? and if so, how did you do it? Also, I should add that the contract we've been given is in pdf format, so it's not like we can make changes directly to the document.. we'd have to go back and forth with this I imagine and it may take a while. Please advise =) Tia!
  20. Hi, thanks for the replies! I've given it some thought and have read all of the posts in the Moon Palace forum, and decided to stick with Moon Palace =) I will certainly tune in to the Moon Palace webinar that's coming up. @@talicea7812 your experience sounds frustrating and I'm sorry that you are going through this.. I feel like I will have to deal with some of these issues as well. I am wishing you the best of luck in your planning, and for you to enjoy your wedding day!
  21. Ladies, this question is for those who had a chuppah- given that each collection includes a structure that's different from a chuppah, were you able to have them make some changes to it in order to create a chuppah for you? I know that they are not flexible with making changes to their packages so this is a concern. Also, I am wondering if it would it be possible to add flower arrangements to the tables (using one of the preferred flower vendors) if I choose the table decorations from one of their wedding collections? Lastly, for those of you that had the reception at the Caribano Terrace, were you able to extend the hours past 10pm? Tia! =)
  22. Can anyone answer whether the club could be used as a back up location for the reception in case of rain, on a day that it is closed (Sunday)? Tia!
  23. Ladies, I have a question about the beach at Moon Palace. I went to MP for a site inspection and loved it in every way. However, when we were there we didn't go down to the beach to check it out, as we are not having our ceremony on the sand and thus it didn't cross our minds at the time. Now that we are ready to sign the paperwork to secure a date I started to think and realized that the beach is an important factor as our guests would enjoy spending their days there. So before I sign the paperwork I wanted to check in with you and see how big of a deal the beach was to you and your guests? Were people still swimming in the water and if so were they enjoying themselves? Is it worth foregoing MP because of the beach? I am starting to consider the other Palace resorts for this reason, but would really love advice from those that experienced it first-hand. Thanks!
  24. Hello brides, I need your advice on selecting the best resort for our wedding. We are having about 60 people travel with us, and the age range will be mainly between 25-45. We travelled to Mexico last month and visited Moon Palace and Azul Sensatori for site inspections. We liked both hotels but ultimately settled on MP as it had more to offer for our guests in terms of where to stay and what activities to do while in the resort. Also, we liked the great wedding packages and the various wedding locations available. We are about to sign the paperwork to secure our wedding date, but I am having reservations. After doing some more research I am starting to realize that the beach at MP is not great due to the seaweed, and am reading that most people don't enjoy swimming in the ocean there. The beach is very important to us as majority of our guests prefer this over the pool. However, I should mention that we will not be getting married on the beach but rather will have the ceremony on one of the terraces. I should also mention that we will not be needing the chapel at MP. We also liked Azul Sensatori during our visit, specifically for the rooftop ceremony location, great food and drinks, bridal suite, etc. However, when comparing the two against each other we chose MP for its location (Cancun), great activities, and the driveway to the resort (which looked awful at Azul when we visited but this could have been due to the rainfall). Now that I am beginning to question our decision, I am considering Azul as an option once again. We didn't get to visit Beach Palace during our trip, but I have seen pictures online and I like their rooftop location for the ceremony. Also, their beach looks very nice in comparison to MP. I am not particularly crazy about the layout of the hotel from what I see in pictures, but am still giving it fair consideration. If you have any thoughts on this please share as we need to sign the paperwork ASAP. Thanks!
