Hola! Sorry you ladies both had troubles with vendors down here. It is not the fact we are on "island time", it's that this is the beginning of high season. Most vendors do prefer to work with wedding planners down here, it eliminates the amount of individual clients emailing when vendors find it easier to contact coordinators and what not. When a coordinator inquires with them, they know that there is a higher chance of securing the job and they want to remain in that planners good-books by replying in a timely matter. Now coordinators are very expensive down here, it is almost impossible to find companies that will source reliable and top-notch vendors for you!
