  1. How did anyone get around NOT using the resort videographer? I want to use an outside videographer, but they said this is not allowed. I dont care about using their photographer, but I really would rather pay an outside videographer. thanks.

I have the exact same timeline for my wedding next Tuesday. I didn't get too bummed out about it because I have more time for photos after the ceremony, and nobody has to rush for photos or to the next location. I'm sure guests wouldn't mind hanging around the bar for 30-1hr in between. I know they can arrange a cocktail hour for you, but I believe it will be an extra cost because the resort is designating a specific staff just for your party. For me, I'm sending out an email or in the welcome letter to the guest to tell them the timeline and ask them to chill at a bar or something while the couple does the photos ourselves. These are little minor things that you can work around, so don't get too bummed about it. Thanks for your reply Yes, the more I think about it, I think this timeline will work out ok.... In the end, I won't feel as rushed. I am thinking that maybe I will have a cocktail hour with a guitar trio playing from 5 to 6 before dinner? When are you having people do their speeches? --- Cocktail hour, dinner, or reception? I decided I'm not going to get a DJ.... I'll just have an IPOD. *** Does the videographer capture the entire wedding or just the ceremony?

  5. Thanks for the reply... I am going to either try to push for a 3:30 ceremony with a 6pm dinner ... Or a 3pm ceremony with a 5:30 pm dinner. Any advice on what I should say that could help me to get a decent time change? Currently I have 3pm ceremony and 6pm dinner :(
  6. What type of dress is everyone wearing fabric wise? I don't want chiffon, and prefer something more like a plain satin dress, but I heard satin is thick and heavy - and will most likely be too hot for my August Mexico wedding... What about silk? Or a silk-satin blend?
  7. So you have ceremony at 3 and dinner at 5:30 now? Jazmin wants me to do ceremony at 3, and dinner at 6! Since they said I can't do diner at 5:30, I'm going to try to see if 5 is available. I would rather eat at 5 than have my guests sit and wait around until 6.
  8. Hmm. I don't understand why jazmin said we can't incorporate unique things like: A moment of silence in remembrance of deceased loved ones Personal vows Couple of poems It's frustrating. And they keep changing my ceremony time and dinner time

" I give you this ring, as a symbol of my love and fidelity, I promise to be with you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, for as long as we both shall live…" I'm curious if this is maybe because you have a different judge than me? Emilie Which resort are you getting married at? Yes I really dont see how it could be a problem to do our own vows.... I asked Jazmin if we could even do our vows AFTER the legal marraige certificate signing, and have my cousin read a poem, and have the wedding coordinator read a poem.... and then pronounce us husband and wife.... SHE SAID NO TO THIS! I dont understand how - if its after - that it matters??? I feel so frustrated.
  10. I think the judge speaks Spanish but it is translated. I don't understand why we aren't allowed to say our own vows after the judge legalizes everything.

I'm doing the symbollic ceremony because the we wanted to avoid all the hassle of the blood test and arriving early. Some of our guests are limited to the number of days they can stay, so I didnt want the legalities to interfere with that. So technically, I'm already a married woman!! we had our legal ceremony on october 4th at city hall. Now it's just time to party! I think Jazmin might be on vacation right now, at least from what I was told. Congrats I bet you are so excited for Mexico!
  13. I am getting frustrated.... First I was told my ceremony would be at 4pm - now it is switched to 3pm. Then I was told I could have dinner at 5:30pm, but now it is switched to 6pm.... I really dont want my guests wondering around aimlessly for a long time inbetween the ceremony. UGHHHHH Any suggestions? Also, wedding coordinator said we cannot have anything symbolic or personal tied into our legal ceremoy because the judge wont allow it. This I dont understand - because why does it matter if we want to do personal vows or have a poem read AFTER the legal stuff in complete? Thanks, Kat
  14. I need a price list too! Also, do we just pick one appetizer, dinner, desert for everyone? Or does everyone pick their own?? I'm eating at Tequila. thanks
  15. Thanks! Good to know we want to incorporate a poem, our personal vows, the hands ceremony (another poem), and also have a moment of silence to remember loved ones who have passed away (my mom died when I was a teenager)... So it sounds like this would be doable. When did you get married and which location? We are August 4, 2014 at tulum gazebo. How long was your ceremony about? How long did it take you to get your documents transferred before flying down for your wedding? How long did it take for your marraige license to be mailed? Thanks

So I'm just going with that she said to me. Why Jazmin would say no beyond me. Ok so she is allowing you to do your own vows and have someone do a reading before the judge? Just want to double check because we are also doing legal (August 4 2014!) and want to have my cousin read a poem, and want to do our own vows before the judge does all of the legal stuff
  17. I actually have that same question! We are doing a legal ceremony on August 4,2014... Jazmin said the judge is strict, but I don't see how incorporating personal vows should matter! We want to do our own vows too, so when you find out please let me know
  18. Thanks for the reply. Are you doing a symbolic or legal ceremony? I emailed jazmin about having my cousin read a poem and allowing us to do our own vows before the judge officiated everything but I have not yet heard back.

We have made a seating arrangement which I have NO idea if they will go with what we want or they do it on there own. As far as I know I think the only thing u can choose is how many tables/how many ppl at each table, you might be able to get away with name cards and specific seating for each guest. We plan to just have our guest sit where ever they want during dinner cause we don't really care about the dinner, its the after dinner reception where we want all our decorations and table cards and such to happen:) I think for wedding favors, we are doing like gold picture frames with a picture of each guest and that will act as the seating arrangement in a way?? Does anyone know about legal ceremony vs. symbolic? we are doing legal but hope to still do our own vows and have my cousin read a poem....

There's really nothing else you can do besides make it clear you would love for her to come and then just wait on it. Pushing might make it worse. Thank you for your reply. Yeah she says now that her health is too weak for her to travel, but I know that she wouldn't go to Mexico - even if her wealth was fine. I have always dreamed of having my wedding on the beach.... and I just love the stress free idea of having something destination.... I'm in graduate school working on my doctorate degree so I literally have no time. Plus, my fiance and I are paying for the wedding ourselves! What are your thoughts on legal versus symoblic wedding? I think we plan to do the legal wedding.... but Jazmin my coordinator said that the judges are strict and will now allow to do any poem readings or candle lighting ceremony??? I emailed her back asking if I could have a bridesmaid or my cousin read a poem, and then do our own vows, and then let the judge do his thing..... I hope she agrees that is fine. I dont see why it would be a problem to incorporate a few extra things to make the legal ceremony special?

Awesome thanks! Too bad about the Chinese sky lanterns. I plan to bring our own vases and fill them with sand and put fake flowers in them.... I also plan to bring some other table decorations for the dinner like tea candles.
  23. Did anyone, or is anyone, having a legal ceremony? We plan to do a legal ceremony, but Jazmin said that the judge is strict, and doesnt allow us to have poems read or own vows I am going to see if maybe I can convince Jazmin to let my cousin read a poem at the beginning of the ceremony, allow us to do our own vows, maybe a candle lighting or hands ceremony thing, and then have the judge take it from there with the legal vows and signing of marriage certificate.... Anyone else have experience with this?
  24. Who is doing a legal ceremony versus a symbolic? I think we are going to do the legal ceremony, but the Jazmin (wedding coordinator) said that the judge is strict and doesnt want to incorporate any symbolic things (like poem reading, candle lighting, etc).... is anyone else here doing the legal ceremony? I emailed Jazmin and asked if I could pay extra to have her or someone else at the resort perform the symbolic stuff, then at the end of the ceremony have the judge perform his legal stuff....
