We used HDC as our photographer in Punta Cana, so we had all our wedding photos on a disc before we left the Dominican republic.  So upon our arrival home we sent out reminder cards about our AHR using our wedding photos.

We had a Champagne Brunch on a Saturday at a local Reception Hall.  We purchased our own chair covers and sashes. And I had family members set-up 3 hours before.

We also made our own centerpieces made up with shells and floating candles

We had many traditional elements as you would have at an wedding reception, Wedding cake, grooms cake, Bouquet toss, photographer, DJ and First Dances.

We opted for a limited bar: Champagne, Wine, Beer, Blushing Bride Mimosa and Mama-Juana.  We brought the Mama Juana Back with us for the DR. We ordered free business cards from vista print to inform guest about the mamajuana

For our favors we gave out 4X6 photos from the DW, we had 7 different options for our guests to choose from

We played the ceremony video, which was about 30 minutes during the AHR

One less thing we have to do! :) It's not so DIY but our original plan didn't work so well... So , if you want to do these, get the cups from your local dollarama and take them to a local sign/graphics company and see what they would charge - you'd be surprised!

Thanks for the link to cruise critic, I too am apprehensive about not being able to "control" all the planning. I will check it out. I like to at least know what to expect so that I am able to prepare accordingly.

I have done 21 cruises and this will be my first wedding aboard one. Alot can happen in the 5 hours that has to accommodate getting to the ship, getting ready, the ceremony and the reception all in time for the mandatory boat drill....ugh! It just seems like not enough time for the wedding experience. (I have been to some wedding that last like 6-8 hours.) Even so, I have always wanted a cruise wedding, so I am gonna do it!

As far as cruising, once the cruise has started, you can do as little or as much as you like. The atmosphere is laid back and the cruise line gives you a daily itenerary the night before so you can plan your next days events.

I know what you mean! It's usual for the weddings in my family to last 6-8 hours so a wedding cruise reception for them will feel rushed if they are not sailing with us. But nevertheless I really want one as well! I have only been on 4 cruises but I am so in love with the experience.

  5. Your dress looks amazing! And it fits you so well; you look so beautiful in it! Congratulations on your wedding!! It sounds like it was perfect and you didn't have to break the bank with your wedding party attire!

y wedding, I am posting pictures. I got my dress from DhGate, seller Weddingdress88. The total cost for me incuding shipping was $189. I did not need one alteration, as it was perfect. The pictures do not do it justice, but the beading was amazing and intricate.

My entire bridal party cost for what is shown is this picture, including suits was under $600! For some reason, when I uploaded these on here it destroyed the picture quality. The actual pictures are really much better:(  It was a dream wedding beyond my wildest expectations. I am SOOO happy that I chose to go the custom made route instead of paying the $2000-3000 for the original. It is something I will NEVER regret.  Side note: by using Weddingdress88, I was able to get all 3 bridesmaids dresses (one is not shown) and my dress for the price that my dress alone would have been at Jasmines.

  6. I forgot to mention it also depends on whether you want your wedding on embarkation day (the day the ship is set to sail) or at one of the ports during the cruise. If you choose one of the ports, I've heard of brides not going through the cruise line and using the resort planner or other destination wedding planner. I think Royal Caribbean and maybe another cruise line give the option to get married at sea (on a sea day), but it's more expensive than the other packages.

As for the packages Carnival offers, I think it depends on what you want. Most of them (if not all) include up to 20 guests in their packages so you would not have to pay for extra people. I have heard that the luncheon is more of a sit down meal with the family and the deluxe package has more of the dancing and music with guests being able to eat your choice of different hot and cold hors d'oeuvres during the reception.

Ok now I'm done! I hope I answered at least one of your questions!

  7. Hi LueseeWin!

I personally don't have experience going a cruise wedding but am planning on one in the future. There isn't that much information on cruise weddings but I have read reviews on other bride's experiences! Have you looked on the cruise critic website? There is a section called "Honeymoons and Wedding Cruises" where there are a few recent reviews and information. Here is a link to a recent review from a Carnival cruise leaving Galveston, TX: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1806249

    Hope this helps!

In the survival kit, I did a neat little 'folder' type things for the immodium-type meds...I ended up scanning in the box itself because the meds don't have directions or even a name on them. I just printed them on cardstock and folded them in hald. ...then I did another folder for the gastrolyte - which is essentially electrolytes for dehyrdration. On that, i included hangover remedies! :)

Also, just wondering if anyone else did this...we decided we wanted to make ourselves some cups too. They'll be most memorable for us...so we went to buy more, and the dollarama told my FI that they aren't selling them like that anymore because they break too easily during shipping....SOOOO....I immediately went out and got three extras JUST IN CASE any break on the way down there...we all know our luggage gets tossed around pretty badly. Anyone else get extras?

I can't wait to see the pictures on how they came out!
