  1. Our cost came to $118.44 per adult over the 25. This included the champagne toast after the ceremony, open bar and appetizers during cocktail hour, dinner, and cake (each with an added tax and service charge)
  2. Upgraded chairs are $10 each. We used the tiffany chairs. We were told there would be a $2/chair charge to move them from the ceremony to the reception area but were never charged for that. Though there was an additional $1.10 tax per chair!
  3. I did not use any resort decor but from sifting through these posts over the last year, there was a bride who said she didn't bring anything and ramon decorated the tables w/ candles and sea shells. She had included her slideshow and you can see what the table looked like. http://lalunaphotographers.com/blog/gallery/jonathan/weddings/marisela-kevin/
  4. I did not tip them. As you say, I had a hard time deciding what would be an appropriate amount and we felt that with all the "service" fees they add on to things, he probably gets a percentage of it as it is. I had my dress ironed as my MIL told me that the material of my dress would ruin if steamed. As Noxx said, they have you fill out your laundry sheet with the number of items you need pressed and any special instructions. One of my bridesmaids had her dress pressed also and she arrived the morning of the wedding (had left a 6wk old at home and couldn't get away for long) and they had the dress to us by the time we got back from getting our hair and makeup done at the salon.
  5. We booked our trip through Apple Vacations. They had a promotion that was something like book 6 rooms get one free with a max of 3 free rooms. They also had a flight promotion. For every 12 people who booked their charter airline, Frontier, you got a free flight for up to two passengers. So our room and our parents' rooms were free and our two flights were free.
  6. We used the violinist for the ceremony and had a DJ do the rest so not sure about swapping. We used LED candles and frosted votives. I had read that it's too windy for real candles.
  7. We had the violinist play only during the ceremony. He played beautifully. The DJ started at the cocktail hour. Marvin’s flowers were cheaper than the resorts but I didn’t compare him to other outside vendors. We brought LED lights and votives ( from quickcandles.com) as I had read from other brides that real candles blow out. Dinner Menu Mixed Lettuce w/ blue cheese and walnuts Lobster soup Surf and turf (filet and shrimp---everyone raved about the quality of the entrée) We chose to serve our wedding cake (tres leches---delicious and moist) instead of dessert and added a 5th appetizer (prosciutto bruschetta, beef brochette, shrimp wrapped in bacon, tamales, sausages in puff pastry) We only got to try the beef brochette as we were off taking photos during cocktail hour. I will try and figure out how to post photos

  9. We chose the violinist to play for the ceremony. Our DJ started playing at the cocktail hour. Marvin's flower prices were more reasonable than the resort's were but I didn't compare to other outside vendors. I was very happy with my hair and makeup from the resort salon. For food we chose mixed lettuce w/ blue cheese and walnut confit w/ honey balsamic dressing lobster soup surf and turf of beef filet and shrimp--- everyone raved about the quality of the entree tres leches cake (Delicious! We went to the mexican restaurant at the resort the following night with a group of 12 of us and were all hoping their tres leches would be the same but it wasn't The wedding cake was way better.) we opted to skip dessert and serve our wedding cake as the dessert and instead chose 5 appetizers for the cocktail hour (prosciutto bruscetta, beef brochette, shrimp wrapped in bacon, tamales, and sausages in puff pastry---we only got to try the brochette since we were with the photographer taking pictures while everyone else enjoyed the appetizers) We brought down LED lights and votives (that I ordered on quickcandles.com) I had read on here that it's too windy for real candles. I will work on trying to figure out how to post pictures.
  10. Hi Ladies! Just got back from an amazing week at the Now Sapphire. The wedding was like in a fairy tale. Everything went pretty smoothly. We had 50 people total including 6 children between 2 and 13. The gazebo in the Divine package DOES include the white linens. If you want another color, it's an extra cost. We used DJ Doremixx and sent the deposit via Western Union. Everything went through and he did a great job. We got flowers through Mayan Floral. Marvin is great w/ communicating. We got flowers for the gazebo, centerpieces, bridesmaids bouquets and a "kissing ball" for the flower girl. Arrangements were gorgeous. He met our friend in the lobby and we kept the flowers in Ramon's office until it was time to set them out for the wedding. Marvin even came out and arranged the flowers at 4pm and we were not charged the vendor's fee. We used the resort photographer and videographer. We're happy with our photos but haven't seen our video yet. They will be sending it out along with our photo album book. I spent hours sifting through all the posts on this website and was so grateful for all the feedback. If anyone has specific questions feel free to ask! I would love to help if I can

  12. I ended up ordering them from http://www.amols.com/browse/search?page=2&sa.x=0&sa.y=0&search=maracas They were the best price I found and I was able to get them all in one color. I have a feeling I'm going to end up w/ a whole suitcase of stuff for OOT bags and favors and now, maracas! Got the info from Jodi. Thanks again!
  13. Is anyone planning to get maracas? I found some on amazon but if they're easy to find and buy in Mexico, I'd rather save the luggage space.
  14. Hello Ladies! I've been stalking this thread for a while and finally joined. We're putting together a list of what to put in our OOT bags and were thinking of getting some water bottle labels. Does the resort provide bottled water? Do you think they'd give us a case of bottles to put labels on to give to our guests in their OOT bags? TIA for your responses
